Dirndl doo-dahs, ribbons and chains - Munich

Tips on where to buy them in Munich

Renia
My new dirndl has some of those hook things (?) on the front that I need to either buy a ribbon, silk cord or chain to hook it up with. Can anyone please recommend good shops to go to for this kind of thing.

Thanks!

D'oh. I thought this was going to be a thread about bondage when I saw the title

Sorry to disappoint!

You can buy chains or ribbons at dirndl shops. I am quite surprised yours didn't come with one. Pop into Weisn Tracht und Mehr im Tal. I bought my first dirdl there and went back for extra ribbon...they happily obliged...and for free!

You can also buy ribbon at the department stores. When the departmetn stores open their Trachten section, you can ask them to measure you a bit of ribbon. I recommend getting a few colors that will go with your dirndl so you can mix it up

I just got a dirndl with the hooks and stuff at Weisn Tracht und Mehr im Tal. They have a good amount of ribbions and cords, and I got a few different ribbons and matching aprons.

I look forward to seeing Renia and thetagirl in their new dirndls

My new one (red & white & extrem fesch) also has the hooks and the cord came with it - mine is from Wenger.
Might well still get their 2007 Wiesn one:

Tartan? I like.
Ludwig Beck's angenäht & zugeknöpft (their haberdashery dept) has tons of different ribbons & cords.
Or do you want a charivari?

Thanks for all that above! Mine didn´t come with one (it was Angermaier too, so perhaps surprising they didn´t offer me anything) however I shall enjoy searching for different colours and textures

Katrina, that tartan one is certainly striking. Probably quite unique!

There's a little shop in the Schrannenhalle, "alles dada Tracht", that sells buttons, hooks, cord, etc.

Hi everyone...I'm going to be visiting Germany during Oktoberfest. My German friends would like me to wear a dirndl when I accompany them to the festivities so I've been surfing around the net looking at different ones. Most of them seem to be made of linen, which is nice, but--in my experience linen wrinkles badly if you so much as look at it. Does anyone have any insight about this. The dirndl I am thinking of buying is really nice but I am curious about the fabric and any advice anyone might have.

Thanks...sorry if this seems like a stupid question (it is!)
