I feel a need to get out of the city, and was recently recommended Kochelsee/Walchensee as a day trip destination. You can learn more at www.kochel.de.

Of particular interest to me is the Hydropower station Walchensee-Kraftwerk. If there's interest, I can see about arranging a tour.

One can get to Kochel from Munich via Deutsche Bahn. It's a bit over an hour, with one connection in Tutzing. Between Kochel and Walchensee, there is a bus. It only runs every two hours on Saturdays, however. I don't have a car, but am willing to be convinced to rent one and share the costs. My first choice would be DB, though.

I don't have much more of a plan right now other than just to head over there on Saturday and check it out, maybe hike around some. If that is too vague, however, more detailed planning can be done as well.

If you're interested, post or pm me.

If anyone of hiking nature ever wants to do hikes on a SUNDAY (a day when most things are closed and thus more free from errand pressures), let me know!

i would also come on sunday, if the weather is fine. i have a car, so there's place for other 4 fellows.

I'd be up for a hike on Saturday or Sunday. I like to hike with my dog though - would it be all right in the car, or can we arrange a meet-up at the destination (with me taking DB)?

Sunday doesn't really work for me, and right now the weather forecast for Saturday isn't looking so good, depending on who you ask. But I will continue to monitor the situation...

Sundays are generally the best day for me to go hiking , as i usually work on Saturdays , so if anyone is going anywhere , i would be interested dry.gif

Looking at the weather tomorrow, I am going to cancel my trip. Maybe all you Sunday hikers can still get together, though. The forecast for Sunday looks slightly better than for Saturday.

Too bad. I'd like to start doing more hiking day trips around Bavaria. Better luck next time, I guess.

Hey prijks, I was thinking of going with you but the weather being what it is, I decided to go for the bike tour instead.

Should you organise another hiking trip - preferably on a Saturday, you know why wink.gif - please let me know/post it up and I'll join you.

i'm still available on sunday (+car).

I know Walchensee. It's shaped like a triangle right?

Bottom bit of that triangle has a peninsula sticking intot he lake. Well thats where all the nakeds go. Cycle there on a hot day then strip off and jump in off a rock. Bloody cold but very refreshing.

Hi folks,
I am ready for hiking or going out 2 lakes on the weekend if the weather is not lousy. Just buzz me or e-mail me at balaji.srinivas@gmail.com in case you have made some plans.

In the last moment i decided to go to Kirchsee (~40km from Munich), a lake not far from the Reutberg monastery (~1.5km). There is a good place for swimming and the monastery has a great biergarten too.
