Life X Death = Love
"PIKA describes a flash of light and DON describes huge sound." The survivors of the nuclear bomb in Hiroshima and Nagasaki started to call the nuclear bomb PIKADON. Pikadon is an onomatopoeia. The Japanese language uses a lot of those onomatopoeic words. „pika" means flash and light and „don" sound. The word Pikadon means flash light with a huge sound. But Pikadon does not express any hate, anger or sadness. Our aim is the symbiosis of light and sound – like Pikadon.
We started to create the Pikadon project to create a peaceful 21st century by communicating and expressing ouselves.
By the collaboration of PIKADON Tokyo -Berlin group, sound and light, audio and vision are not anymore separeted but sound and resonate together as audio-vision as Pika-Don. As Kuroda would say "everything is coming simultanously.'' Beginning with the live performance in the Saint Elisabeth-Church in Berlin we would like to set ,Pika-Don' a new basis, which is planned to expand in the next years. But also we would like to Pika-Don with mother earth. Wishing that Pika-Don can become part of the priciples of life, natura and the universe.
PIKADON Tokyo- Berlin Live is a series of collaborative productions emphasizing the enrichment of life devoid of prejudice, dogma and borders. The transglobal group was initiated in 2004 by Seitaro Kuroda and founded togehter with Toshinori Kondo, Araki Nobuyoshi and Tadao Ando to create a place to express new form of art communication.
The performance Pikadon explores live improvisation on stage, canvas and voice accompanied by live music,it is a resonance and fusion with each other in the world.
PIKADON TOKYO-BERLIN Team:
Seitaro Kuroda, 1939 born in Osaka Japan (artist) he is a genre of
himself. Since the late 60s he has been one of the most influential
artist/illustrator in Japan.
Toshinori Kondo, 1948 born in Ehime Japan Composer. He is is an
avant-garde and jazz trumpeter. In 2002 he worked on an international
peace festival in Hiroshima after being approached by the Dalai Lama
about organizing one.
Natalija Ribovic, 1976 born in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia, visual media
artist lives between Tokyo -Germany, moving between different art
dialogs and founder of OAK- to all relations- cultural art Platform Tokyo-Berlin.
Toru Fujita, 1972 born in Tokyo, Japan, artist and founder of OAK-to
all relations -cultural art platform Tokyo-Berlin.
