Getting paid after being dismissed from a company

How to deal with final payments being refused?

Hi, all,

I have recently founded my own tour company. I had been with Munich Walk Tours as a Dachau guide . On my website I also offer Dachau Memorial tours. So I am considered competition. I have been "dismissed" from the company since they found out. Fine, I expected that. The problem is, they are refusing to pay my earnings for the month of July. It is not much money anyway, so I don't want to hire a lawyer. Any advice on how to get my money? I am self-employed anyway, and so I just write out an invoice to whatever company I give tours for. By the way, if you have time, check out my website in a few days: www.alicetours.com

Depends on the contract. Did you have a no-competition clause? Did you breach it by giving tours on your own while still under the agreement? Do you have proof of the hours that you worked? I would talk to the guys sensibly first (which I am sure that you have tried), then send them first a letter with a deadline then, if they don't pay up, a writ (Mahnbescheid).

Even though it is too late for this particular problem, for the future you might want to think about legal liability insurance so that you can get legal advise and representation in cases like this covered by insurance.
