Dachauer Volksfest, 11th - 20th August, very local, criminally cheap beers on as a rule and lots of local drunkeness
Anybody up for it, evening of Tuesday 14th or during the day Wednesday 15th?
Which is Himmelbimmel and a public holiday.

Sounds cool to me although I will be sans Scogs.

Can you give us more info on where and when this little drink-fest is taking place?? Havnt been, but I'm always up for some 'practice'.

Just got home from the Volksfest. Very easy on the wallet at 4.40 for a mass!

I went a few years ago and nearly got blown away by a huge storm! They actually closed the fest as trees were blowing down onto cars and I think part of the tent ripped up in the wind too. Had fun otherwise though

We went yesterday and had a blast! It was the last day, so that may have accounted for the lack of people, but... the lack of crowds, much less smoke in the tent (the tents have open walls and are not as enclosed- i.e. locked down! as Oktoberfests) and being able to find a place to sit with no problems at all, made us love this fest more than Oktoberfest. Highly recommended.

I'm sure in the first weekend, this place can get as crazy as Oktoberfest... well, maybe not THAT crazy. But 4pm on the last day gives you open seating, super friendly germans and an oompapa band for mood music as you drink your 4,40 euro mass.

Highly recommended fest, and we'll definitely be back next year!

Or take the S1 to the Freisinger Volksfest from 31st August to 9th September, not quite as cheap as Dachau, a Maß costs €5,40, but not bad.
