I'm off to a wedding in a couple of weeks and would like to give some crystal as a wedding present. Something from Austria, Germany, or Czech. I'm willing to travel a bit to find a place with a good selection and a reasonable price, but not as far as Prague. Does anyone have some ideas of where to find some?

Try any of the main department stores but particularly Kustermann by the Viktualienmarkt.

Or if you are willing to drive 3-4 hours you dont need to go as far as Prague, just any town over the border in Czech Rep will do.

Plzen, Karlovy Vary but especially Czesky Krumlov (stunning town, designated a UNESCO World Herritage Site less than a 4 hour drive). Nice weekend away and get some crystal.

a lot of people go to czeck or slovakia for their crystal 'cause it is thousands times cheaper. i'd make a day trip of it.

We have been collecting colored cut glass since we moved here, but it's hard to find and I'm looking for some sources. It's mostly made in Germany (a good brand is Nachtmann), Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic. It doesn't have to be new or in whole sets, just in good shape. Any idea where I can find it, like outlet malls, specialty crystal shops or antique shops? Here's what I'm talking about: http://www.crystalacarte.com/thumbnails.asp
Thanks!

Hmm. I feel like I've seen a good bit in one or two of the antique shops in the Barerstr / Türkenstr / Adalbertstr area. I can visualize one - big shop on a corner, but can't remember the address. If I pass it this weekend, will PM you.

Couldn't resist sharing with everyone the description of one of the glasses found on the above link:

"Petronella Wine Glass coordinates with Patrizia Goblet. These crystals are the perfect stems if you would like to ass some color to the modern table setting."

Cheers!
