Lawyers not returning calls or emails

I already posted about my problematic nut-job landlord.

I went to see a lawyer here in Berlin 10 days ago. I took all of the relevant paperwork, emails, contracts and so on and explained the situation to him. He told me that in the first instance he'd send an email to my landlord by 23 July 2007. I emailed him on 24 July to check the email went out and see if he'd got a reply. No response. I tried calling him 2 days later and just got voicemail, no reply. I sent him an email asking him to call me. No reply. I finally got through to him on Friday evening just gone. He told me that he had sent the email to my landlord but that it had bounced back to him. He told me he'd re-send it Friday night and if not Friday night then "before the end of the weekend."

I just this minute got another angry email from my landlord saying he has not heard from my lawyer at all...

Time to hire a different lawyer?

Is it usual for German lawyers to not respond to emails, return phone calls etc?

I'd assume the lawyer really did send the e-mail like he said he did and your landlord is a fuckwad.

Just ignore the landlord. Say things like "wow, that's a cute pony" when you hear his voice.

E-mails? just forward them to the lawyer.

You're going to make yourself sick from worrying about your lawyer, landlord, and about that cheque from the money your friend owes you. Take a step back, take a deep breath, and try to relax a little, I think eurovol is saying to you stop stressing as it's counterproductive. It will all work out for you in the end. If you have caller ID don't even answer your phone when the landlord calls and for that idiot knocking at your door ignore him too!!!

Thanks for the wake-up call. My blood pressure has probably raised significantly in the past few days with all the worrying I've been doing!
