It works out at €42 return from Salzburg to Stansted.
Thanks a lot for posting this, Shaggy :-)

@Katrina I suspect that this is Ryanair's last offensive before abolishing check-in luggage completely.

@erdbeere That is the perenniel problem. You end up in the middle of nowhere. Can't be any more specific coz I've never been there rolleyes.gif
erdbeere
ticket to salzburg is like 20 sumfin.. but if u have a few ppl u can geta bayern ticket for 28€ .. its good for up to 5 ppl
Shaggy

With the luggage - it's 15kg checked, plus max 10kg hand-luggage. Plenty of room for Christmas pressies as long as you don't buy them anything too heavy.

To get into central London you get a train to Liverpool St - it costs about 13 pounds, and it takes about an hour or just less. So it's quite a bit more expensive than Heathrow (3.80 pounds on the tube).
But if you're a Northern Git like me, though, Stansted is great - you get the train up to Peterborough then change, you don't even have to go through London. Works out a lot cheaper.

You can get to Salzburg on a Bayern ticket or Schoenes Wochenende ticket, depending on whether it's a weekday or weekend, respectively. The last I checked a Bayern ticket was 21 EUR, though I think they've now got a single-person ticket for 15 EUR. Unless it's gone up, a Schoenes Wochenende ticket is 28 EUR.

The Stansted Express is the cheapest bet to (if I remember correctly) Kings Cross, and it's 23 pounds round trip.

You can also go by coach from Stansted to central London, it costs 15 pounds return. The train costs 24 pounds return.

At the Salzburg end, you can use the Bayern Ticket at weekends as well now; after 9am Mon-Fri and all day Sat & Sun. 22 euros for up to 5 people, or 15 euros for a Single.

as it happens I booked a flight from salzburg to stansted last week on ryanair. I know that the bayern ticket gets you to salzburg all right, but does it actually get you all the way to the airport or do you have to pay extra for that?

thanks,

I have been looking at the Ryan Air Flights from Salzburg to Bristol. The flights are on Wednesday and Saturday. The prices vary but there are tickets for 1 cent. I can't work out how the booking works. The web page reads:-

- The travel dates requested are for our next schedule period
and the fares/seats are not loaded for this date as yet
- There may not be a flight scheduled for this date

I looked for April a few weeks back and there was nothing. Now there are 1 cent flights but only booking until mid April. Has anyone Ryan Air booking experience? Can you tell me when the booking for last week April will begin?

I just had a look quickly - it looks like they aren't running any flights at all at the end of April (between Salzburg and Bristol).

That isn't uncommon, Ryanair do seasonal flights and then stop them again to various destinations. The flights to Salzburg are targeted at people going skiing in Austria. Since the ski season is over from mid-April onwards, Ryanair probably made a business decision not to run any more flights to Salzburg after mid-April. They have a similar policy with Dublin-Salzburg, with more flights in the winter and either no flights or severly reduced flights in the summer.

Then for another Ryanair route that is popular in the summer they will increase the amount of flights instead.

Well I thought that too as about a month ago there were no flights for March/April. Now there are...so I live in hope! Have just signed up for the newsletter.
dreamer
maybe try phoning them to ask?
SillyOldSlapper
Well decided to rethink my plans! Will go week after next. Have booked and paid for a return ticket costing 20.41 GBP including tax and handling charge. If the later dates also come online, I might go again.
