I am planning a trip to the Sächsischer Schweiz, south of Dresden. Has anyone been there that can recommend a good trip route? Bastei, Königstein..
There are hundreds of different rock formations and trails to explore. The Bastei and Königstein are the most well known and usually have coach loads of tourists crwaling all over them. In contrast, if you go away from the tourist traps you'll find equally impressive rocks/trails and have the place to yourself.
I found this link in English
Trails in Saxony Switzerland. When I'm down there and I normally just pick out an interesting rock formation from the hotel beer garden and climb it the following day. I can't recommend the area enough.

The above natural arch is in the Czech Rep. Well worth a visit. See link for details.
