Is it me or was it bl**dy cold this morning?
Freezing on the bike today!
Jeeves

Answer: it's both.
Obviously it is you, otherwise you wouldn't have noticed it.
But so did I and almost everyone else I've spoken to so far. Autumn is on it's way.

Looking out the window into my garden and seeing the leaves turning yellow and falling off the trees, I would say that Autumn is already here.

Yeah, it was a damn cold bike ride this morning. Must say though, it's a nice start to autumn.

Three years ago, we had two inches of snow on the ground in September where I used to live north of Augsburg.

Im no meterologist, but hopefully the relatively colder summer should mean earlier snow, which should hopefully mean a better ski season. A good ski season could easily make up for a bad summer.

Er, yes, but I don't remember there being too much wrong with the last ski season either.

Really? Wouldn't know, was too busy deep in nappies to even think about skiing.

Bring on the autumn - no more sunburn! But now I have to figure out my gas heating without blowing the flat up.

The Oktoberfest is normally the last chance of getting some nice warm weather before Autumn hits us although I have experienced 32 degrees here in November before.
It snowed during
Oktoberfest 2 years ago so anything could happen. All the ski resorts will start the winter preparations around October and the ski season only really gets going beginning to mid December, although the glaciers are usually perfect by then anyway.

let it snow now and lots!
this summer rubbish is totaly overated, lots of insects bitting you, sun giving you skin cancer, ugly people wearing to short or to tight clothes and looking rather elephanty, to hot and sweaty to work efficently, biergarten are overfull, old men wank posers with their cabrios and 13 year old girlfriends always driving way too slow, bier getting to warm because of the heat, crappy torists milling around and blocking marianplatz and worse of all all the young scrumpet walking around with serious cloths coverage dificency and distracting me from being able to drive, ride a bike, or finsh a sentence due to my jaw dropping.
winter, bring it on!

@Canuck
Now now...that is not true! We have lovely summers and they get damn hot. Yes winter does start early...but I would have given anything for a traditional hot TO summer this year. I did not find it hot here at all...not compared to humidex levels warning people to stay inside. Mind you seems this year was crappy in most places.
@DW...I am beginning to think so...although everyone swears 'this never happens here'. Yeah sure.
However, the sun hath shone for days and days...so maybe it is onward and upward for the fall :-)

As Crawlie said, it stays SUMMER until after the Wies'n!

From experience over the previous years, summer is generally getting later and later, so you get a hot spell in spring, cold, then generally warm until 2 wks before oktoberfest, then oktoberfest is gorgeous weather, then sudden switch to f-ing freezing winter.
global warming is certainly taking its toll though.. I think at the mo there are 5-6 hurricanes/typhoons in the world somewhere. 5 and 6 yrs ago summer was a scorcher and was more consistent.

@ Graham...and what happens to the hormons in Winter...nevermind...
I also love German Winters...cold and dry. Blue sky, snow on the ground, and a bit of sunshine ...just perfect.
But wait a minute...we are just getting into autumn...also worth experiencing, especially in Munich where there is so much green changing colours. Winter doesn't really get going until the middle of November.
