Disclosing previous income details to new employer

Hallo Leute,
I hope somebody will help me out with this problem.My new employer is asking for my Lohnsteuerkarte from my previous employer.I guess my old employer will add all the salary details before handing it over to me.But I want to avoid letting my new Employer know my old details...well...lets say the difference is too much!
How can I do this?I understand there is something called ersatzlohhnsteuerkarte.Will it contain info of previous employer?Will it be acceptable to new employer?Can my new employer still insist on the original?Can they find out my old salary?

While this is not my area of expertise and while I therefore can not give you a guarantee on the total corectness of my answer, a short google-research has given my the following information:
- you can simply go to the local authority who has issued you the Lohnsteuerkarte and ask for a second one. If anyone should ask you you could simply claim that you are having a second, parallel job. Thus at the end of the year you will have two Lohnsteuerkarten, please make sure you'll hand both to your tax adviser when (and if) you file for tax reimbursement etc.
- Ersatzlohnsteuerkarte is also possible, you would have to claim that the first was lost or destroyed. Costs a simple fee. But my guess is the first solution is easier and helps you to achieve your goal, hiding your huge salary increase from your new employer (congrats by the way and since this is my area of expertise: have you thought about starting some investment/savings plan with part of the higher monthly income? Had to ask... )

With regards to the other part of the question: no, your new employer has not right to inquire about your former employment and salary and he has also no right to see any such specific information on the Lohnsteuerkarte

Carefull with the first option.. If you tell them you have 2 parallel, jobs they might Issue a new Card, but also put
you into a different tax class, as having more than one job will qualify you for. Thus you will be paying more taxes..

Look its all on a new system now.Your Steurkarte used to have all the info written on it.Now it has a piece of paper stuck on it.All they want is your tax card so the know how to tax you.Take the piece of paper out and give him the tax card and only the tax card.
