I would like to order some of my favourite foods from home (Canada) and I was wondering if anyone has experience or knowledge concerning importing food into Germany. Is it difficult?

Thanks! smile.gif

you're not meant to bring meat products in or out of the country... don'T know any more than that.

Worst case scenario, if you had it in your packing, would be that you got searched and had it took off you

What exactly are you looking for? Sometimes you can find stuff either here in Germany or in Switzerland if you look around a bit. Though it might cost a bit more here, shipping often evens out the price. There are also a few online stores that specialize in delivering North American foodstuff worldwide - would have to check my other computer for the urls or you can try googling.

It is illegal to import meat, dairy and fish into the EU as fresh foods.

Searches don't appear to be as rigourous as entering North America, let alone Australasia but still.

I think live plants are out too (as in herbs and things).

I am pretty sure it is also not legal to import fresh fruit and vegetables.

I was going to order off a website that specializes in Canadian products but it says you have first ensure that the products you order are allowed for import into the country. I would like to order cookies, tea etc. so no fresh fruits or meats.

Thanks for all the advice smile.gif

Cookies and stuff like that is fine.
