Renowned heavyweight boxer Vitali Klitschko is coming out of a two-year retirement to face off against American challenger Jameel McCline. The fight, being touted as ‘Octoberfist’, is scheduled for 22 September in Munich’s Olympiahalle.
Vitali’s younger brother, Wladimir, is the current heavyweight world champion of the International Boxing Federation (IBF). The Ukranians want to make history by becoming the first brothers to simultaneously hold world heavyweight titles.
The elder Klitschko’s last fight was back in December 2004, when he defeated Danny Williams and defended his WBC world title. However, a number of injuries prevented him from further bouts and ultimately sent him into retirement in 2005. Ever since, the WBC has listed him as "World Champion Emeritus".
The executive director of Olympiahalle, Wilfrid Spronk, has said he expects that the sixteen thousand seat arena will be sold out for this historic match.
Oktoberfist! - Brilliant, how do they come up with them?
I'm a bit disappointed they are not hosting it in one of the tents at the Wiesn though. "War in the Pschorr!" for example. You could have a full card just to accommodate the band breaks. The band stage is about the same size as the squared circle. Instead of show-girlies bringing out the round cards you could have some young lovely in a dirndle carrying out the maß equivalent of the round number. They could also rediscover the old touring boxing tent tradition, where those from the crowd who are a little tanked up and fancy their chances could take on one of a bunch of pool fighters. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea.
Never heard of Jameel McCline. I hope he's well versed in the art of Ringcraft.
Crikey...I searched to find info about the fight...and guess what...
Give Octoberfist a hand — a big hand While my roommate recently returned from the real German Oktoberfest, I had to make do with Octoberfist, the annual gay fisting celebration, this year held at the Marquee/Slide, the upstairs/downstairs performance space/gay bar.
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but it certainly wasn’t a crowd of German-attired dragsters, pseudo-Hitlers, misguided accent attempts, pretzels on the table, beer everywhere and some of the most entertaining burlesque around.

Eagle, I'm guessing you were intending to quote something there and not recount your own personal experiences, yeah?

Yes, just to be clear, I was quoting from a website...
Would love to meet Klitschko face to face...he is a real tough nut.
''Men of steel'' like him nowadays are hard to find...we have been softened by modern living, sky tv,9-5 office jobs, and bad living. Not good.

I didn't get tickets because I wasn't sure I was going to be in town. But in retrospect I wish I'd just bought the cheapie ones and sold them if I ended up not being able to use them. I actually meant to post about this sooner, so sorry everybody.
But take heart, Mook32 - as much as I pathologically love the Klitschkos, I personally would not spend €100 to see what will most likely be a two-round fight ending with Klitschko easily knocking out McCline. Sit at home with a pizza and a case of beer and congratulate yourself for not being one of those numpties who spent hundreds of euros to watch four minutes of boxing. Better view from your sofa anyway.

True story, but you can always luck out and catch a Rahman! 35 yoyo's isn't too bad, 100 is too much and the 830 they want for the ringside (I am assuming) seats is asinine! What do you think PPV will cost for this fight? Any chance they will have it on at the O'fest : ) Now that would be sweet, watching the fight while sitting in a O'fest tent enjoying the suds!
