Actually more Americans have German heritage than Irish. For the umpteenth time, ethnicity and nationality are not the same thing. Why Europeans still fail to grasp this is beyond me. Given how Europe treats their 3rd generation immigrant populations I'm not sure why I'm surprised.

It's kind of funny. Like, I have no problem slagging off the US and Americans. But I am American, so I'm allowed to do that. I've at least lived in the country and can speak with some level of accuracy about what it's really like.

But when other people, especially Brits English people, start whinging about how awful the US is it really irks me.

It's kind of like how you can get irritated with your mom and call her a bitch behind her back, and that's okay, but if somebody else calls your mom a bitch then you're all like, 'hey that's my mom you're talking about you asshole!'
