For those who can't wait for the Wies'n and get a last wear in for die tracht before the real rally smile.gif, the annual Rosenheim Herbstfest takes place from Saturday, 25 August until Sunday, 9 September in Rosenheim.

Info from last year's fest.
Pas
Is it that time already?

Far better than Oktoberfest. wink.gif

The beer is cheaper, the rides are cheaper and the Rosenheim is a beautiful city.
rosenheimguinness
Anyone interested in a TT tisch ?
Pas
I'm away for almost all of it so not this year. I can recommend it as a fine alternative to Munichs more expensive cousin. For those that havn't been Rosenheim is a really nice city and the train to Munich doesn't take very long.
Sprutz
Want to have fun INSIDE a beer tent instead of waiting in front of them?
Here's the place to go!

I'd like to go (been there many a time), can we get a group together for this Saturday?
madgibson
I'd be interested to check out the Herbsfest aswell as Rosenheim itself...although I've lived here for years I've never actually managed to visited the town (only in transit on the train mostly!). I could only make it on the last weekend, preferably Sat. 8th Sept. so I could do a bit of "sightseeing" first then go late afternoon to the Fest. I'd definitely be up for meeting up with other TTers...always more fun in a crowd. smile.gif

I got my first paid jobs at the Herbstfest, first making fruit kebabs for Schneller, then selling tobacco wares from a tray in the Auer tent. Auer always had the better oompah-band but Flötzinger beer is more tasty. Have fun, and drain a Maß for me!
Pas
I might well be up for something next weekend. Getting back to Germany tonight.
DJ_Jazzy_Guff
I hit this with my buddy yesterday and we had an absolute riot. Get yourself down there next weekend if you wanna do the same! If you see any nice girls, just ask them "Magst du Spongebob?" and you'll be in like Flynn! They love that shit down there!! I watched in amazement as a magician of a man used this to full effect. Enjoy!

How old were those girls then? Hope you weren't breaking any laws tongue.gif

@pas
Maybe you could give us "Müncheners" a tour of Rosenheim (you being a local an' all) and then we could get a TT table together for the Fest...?

In any case I'll be coming down I reckon - if anyone else wants to join me, send a PM and we can share a Bayern ticket for the day.
Sprutz
Hello, any idea how many TTs will come down on Sat? We should try to book a table...
Pas
Not sure it's possible to book a table at this late stage. From what I understand the tables are usually booked a long time in advance but you never know.

I'm likely to be along later rather than sooner but lets see what interest this generates.
Sprutz
Might be a problem to get a table on weekends. Been there on Friday - that was just crazy!!! Never seen so many drunk and sweating people...
What about Wed/Thu?
Pas
The trick is to get there early and hope it's a nice day so the tables outside are available.
madgibson
I've decided just to head down for the day anyway..will take pot luck at the seats (I won't be crying if I don't manage to get a place - just thought I'd incorporate it into my trip)...as Pas says it the weather plays along then sitting outside would be an option.
rosenheimguinness
If you get there by 11.45 on saturday you´ll get a table no probs . Flötzinger fills from midday . You might get lucky between 2.30 and 4 ( after lunch before the evening rush ) , after 5 chanchable if there´s only 4 of you , after 6 hard to find place for a pair . Apparently only 50 percent of the tables can be reserved on Saturday nights , so its first come first served , and everyone I know makes an effort and are ther befor the mittag rush !

Auer is slightly easier , and easily the partier hall , beer a little stronger ( therefore a bit sweeter ) , more for the the yokels and koblermoorers ! ( or those who think ACDC are still topping the charts ! ) Watching the carnage is unbelivable for a first timer ( sex on / under / between the tables ) more people drunk ( percentagewise 90% + ) and I mean totally wankered , and hardly any trouble !

I normally come at 11 to Flötzinger drink my 8 maß and go haome around 9.30 ( signs of getting old ! )

Enjoy !!!
Pas
So are there people interested in going at somepoint on saturday?

And what's wrong with Kolbermoorers?
Sprutz
My brother managed to get a table in the Flötzinger box #2 on Saturday. 2-4 places will be available at about 8.30 pm.
Pas
Sounds good. I'm pretty thin.

I was thinking of going to the fireworks tomorrow but with the weather as it is I think I'll skip that.

Hon, most people here struggle with German, quoting Bavarian at them will probably make them hide in a corner gibbering. Especially drunken Bavarian.

Hi all, I just wanted to say that the Wiesn (meaning the Herbstfest) is a cool Fest, I really don't know why people are complaining. Not compatible to families, well I've never heard that, oh my! So see you all at the Wiesen, bye.

Hi peeps,
I think reservations on week-nights are ok and can stay but they really shouldn't permit them on Saturdays.
So many people go to the Wiesn then, it's just not right that 3/4 of the tent are reserved.
The people in charge have to put their foot down and say that there should be no reservations on that day. The way it's going we will end up with another Oktoberfest. And I don't think anybody wants that.

Sorry that I cannot reproduce their drunken spelling and syntax, too early in the day for that.

I am truly shocked to hear how bad things have got in Rosenheim, it's a crying shame that a down-home small Fest like that has become almost as bad as the Wiesn.
Jinying
how to get there?
Pas
We'll I'll be on my bike or the Bus. tongue.gif

There are a lot of direct trains from Munich. There is then a bus laid on from the train station. It's about a 10-15 minute walk otherwise. I think it would be well signposted.

I'd give you directions by car but if you're in the car you've missed the point.

There should be full directions here.

Sprutz
Hello Bavarian beer lovers!
Should we meet at the Weißbier-Karussel at 8.00 pm?
Pas
Where is that. Trying to work it out from the map on the site but it's not the easiest map to work out.
Pas
Right , not too sure how many are likely to be there but had one or two PM's from interested parties. I'll be there at 8 but I don't know where this meeting point is. I take it if I just wonder around the site I'll find it?
DDBug
Well, I was one of the interested parties, but I just found out I'm getting surprise visitors, so I am out. Shame though, it sounds like a fun time. Have fun everyone. Maybe I'll make it next year!
Sprutz
FYI ->
The Weißbier place is next to the Flötzinger, it's # 68 on this plan

Am wearing my [url="http://www.toytowngermany.com/wiki/Dirndl"]Dirndl
for you tonight! :-)
Pas
So in the end there was a grand total of 2 of us. Fortunately Sprutz is extremely nice and it was a it was a really good atmosphere in the tent so I had a great evening.

Missed out guys, the Rosenheim fest is a really great night out. Get it in your diaries for next year

And yes, Sprutz looks fantastic in a Dirndl. wink.gif
