Where should i get my ear fixed? Doctor?
I know it's not premanent as it is clearer in the day and sometimes 'pops' when swallowing/burping.
I was swimming at the weekend which made it worse.
any tips?

I would recommend getting a referral from your GP to an ear specialist. They would do the best job. It will cost more without a referral.
Good luck!

Yes, and if you have not been to the doctor yet this quarter, you do not need a referral. You just pay the Praxisgebühr at the HNO (ENT)'s office and then get any future referrals from them (for this quarter) should you need them.
HNO= Hals-Nase-Ohren-Arzt.

Yep, I agree an ENT consult is in order. However, a very good general practitioner should be able to look in your ear and determine if it's an ear infection and then you'll need antibiotics or if this is congestion behind your tympanic membrane without infection and this is usually treated with a decongestant like pseudoephedrine (sudafed). If you swim a lot this could be swimmer's ear, basically an outer ear infection.

Could also be related to pollen allergies if you have any.

If it is only blocked, and doesn't hurt, then you can buy a kit from the chemists that consists of a liquid that you pour, well a few drops, into the ear and then after a few minutes, squirt warm water into the ear with the provided squirter. You'll be amazed how much crap comes out. I've got this at home as I sometimes get blocked ears. However it is important that it doesn't hurt, because you've got an infection if it does and that needs a quack.

I used to get swimmers ear all the time when I taught diving in swimming pools. I used a weak solution of boric acid which cleared it up a treat.

Do you have ear problems often? I used to, the ENT specialist put tubes in my ears, they are coming out now and I havn't had any problems with my ears. The first time in like 10 years. lol. Go and ask if that would help.

hey all,
Well i went to the doctor today and she confirmed the bad ear was totally blocked, but surprisingly, the 'good' ear was also almost totally blocked. She could not do much more as the wax was too deep, so she sent me at a HNO place up the street. The guy there took a frew attempts to clear them, but WOW! NOW EVERYTHING IS SO LOUD!
Totally recommend getting this done every few years.
Woohoo.
and can everyone please stop shouting!
