I'm seriously considering taking a trip to Prerow. Has anyone ever been there and can share some info on hotels, restaurants, activites to do there? I've heard that it has snow-white sandy beaches, crystal clear blue water and lush green forests and that's why I'm going for the nature and to just relax and chill out.
Prerow is suppose to be a wonderful town of on the Darss Peninsula. The Darss lies in the Baltic Sea and partly overlooks Denmark. The beach here belongs to Germany's most beautiful beaches and has been awarded the "eco-label" for cleanest waters with the
Blue Flag.

Never been there. It sounds great. On this website you might find good information collected by other tourists:

Freising, thanks for sharing that site took a look and found out some additional info. I made my reservations today for a place to stay. Can't wait to get my bike in the forest and jog/lay on the white sand beach.
I found this map on the site you gave me that gives me a very good idea where the Fischland/Darss peninsula is where Prerow is located.

Despite it being only 30km or so away, I've never been there. Good clean sandy beaches aren't a rarity around here though, and if Prerow is like most of the coastal towns/villages around then it will be nice! I've also heard good things about the dunes there.
If you get a rainy day, Rostock is worth a visit - particularly the inside of the tower of the Petrikirche and the astronomical clock in the Marienkirche (I'm not a church-y person, but they both impressed me). Stralsund also has a lot of impressive hanseatic buildings, and the half-churches in Wismar (a result of wartime bombing, and no-one ever quite got around to removing the other half under the communists) are also a pretty unique sight. Actually, the red-brick gothic churches are all generally impressive, as are the many old buildings, even if a lot of them are still in need of some tlc.

Thanks Maekelborger for the info I'm really looking forward to my visit there and hopefully will have an opportunity to get outside of Prerow to Rostock.

I live in Rostock and it definitely is worth a trip I think. Well if it stops raining. Also Warnemünde (actually I live there) big tourist spot but the beaches are beautiful and Hanse Sail starts soon.

Hi Amber127, I remember you told us a few months ago you were moving to Rostock from I believe Virginia. I will be in Prerow on August 11th and I hope there will be some sunshine. I chose Prerow out of all the other places I could go in Europe as there is not much to do other than the beach and forest. I just want to have a lazy vacation reading my good book by the water, but if I get a chance I may visit Rostock and spend a few days on my way back in Hamburg.

HANSE SAIL!!! I think the 9th-12th unfortunately about 1-2 million people will be here over the course of those days but I am told it is lovely to see. I think this area is good for those lazy vacations. Not so hot beaches and sea and here there are places to walk and see but not so many activities. I enjoy it here a lot, it is quite serene.
Yes I moved from Virginia, I have been here over 2 months now. I like it, if it would only stop raining!!!

Amber 127, will this Hanse Sail event be just in your town or do you know if it will extend to Prerow? I'm trying to get away from hoards of people for my vacation and that's why I chose Prerow. I really don't want a crowd

.

Well it is all over the Baltic. Well Baltic Sail is...here in Warnemünde is hanse sail which I think it is only here in the Rostock area. It is a pretty big event. They have a website somewhere...If you want to stay away from crowds then definitely avoid Warnemünde. It is now high tourist season so when the weather is good it is packed with normal tourist and the cruise ship tourist. Though at night it is relatively calm and nice to walk around by the beach. I am waiting for tourist season to die down a bit, my bf and I haven't been out much by the beach because of all the people (and the rain). Though the city of Rostock shouldn't be that bad. You can see the church, the old University buildings, the city gates and then porno fountain (I forgot the real name). When I get to ride the trams north of the city I like to look at the city and how it is built.
