After trying on my drindl I have come to terms that I most lose some (well, more than some) for the drindl that I bought last winter. God, I bought the thing from another TT for some sort of goal to lose weight then. So, I am going to try

a vegan diet. I did this when I was young & worked like a charm. But, the one passion for me is Kase Spatzle. Tomorrow will be my last one until
Oktoberfest. So this one has to be fab! Looking for any & all suggestions. I must say I have many favorites hence the expanding waistline. So help me. The more crispy onions on top the better.

A vegan diet isn't necessarily low-calorie. I managed to put on more than a couple pounds as a vegan with such yummers as eggplant and eggplant-related foods (like baba ganoush). And makdous. And good hummus. And potato-based meals. And grains. And pulses. Oils, starches... they let you pack on pounds easily. If you want to lose weight it takes effort and motion. Atkins works but you can't "cheat". At all. And even if you do it you still need to become more active.
Oh, and a super Käsespatzle requires you add cream while cooking and let it reduce.

Thanks for your advise BD & all your very tempting food suggestions. I have reviewed my usual eating habits & know that I have a very cheese rich diet.
Please, do tell me where the best Kase Spatzle is to be found & not to be made. Too late to go to the stores...

Cheese-rich diet? That's going to make a vegan diet rather tough.
There are dozens of prepared Spätzle out there. If you aren't going to cook them yourself from scratch, at least get a bag of "fresh Spätzle" from the store.
Pan. Heat. Add chopped onion and cook until half translucent. Add Spätzle. Stir occasionally until warmed. Don't let anything brown or burn. Add cheese, normally a mix of grated Edam and Swiss/Emmentaler. Stir constantly and [optional step:] add cream. Continue mixing until cheese is melted and coats everything fairly evenly. Plate. Add roasted onions.
To make "proper" onions, slice a bunch of onions into really thin rings. Add a bunch of flour and some paprika into a bowl. Throw the onions in and coat thoroughly. Deep fry the onions.

My favourite Kasespatzle is at "Brauhaus Zur Dicken Sophie" next to the Johanneskirchen S-bahn stop (S8 on the way to the Airport). You get a "little" pan FULL of bubbling yummy very cheesy spatzle. Super CRUNCHY onions and a lovely salad (amazing dressing). I have not been able to finish the portion yet. (and I LOVE spatzle)

Thanks melrose. I'll check that place out. I also love Kässpätzle. My fav place for Kässpätzle was Wirthaus am Laimer Platz...but dreadfully they are now closed. I have now resorted to Scheidegger spätzle, which is not that bad.

Thanks Melrose for your suggestion. I just love when it is served in the little pan!

I just had my last pan of Kase Spatzle until The first weekend of October. We went to Wirthaus Zur Brez'n so my husband could feast on some ribs. Melrose, I will find my way to Brauhaus Zur Dicken Sophie for my first pan when I finally can sit down & breathe while wearing my drindl

I'm not sure if this is any good for the diet, but
here is one of the spätzle recipes that we use (with bacon, chives and sour cream).

you can work off your spatzle by going to the beergarden in Strasslach-they have one of my favorite spatzles. take the bus from Gruenwald or you can walk through the woods there and back it'd be a nice afternoon out!
