Ruethenfest in Landsberg am Lech

Medieval festival - weekend 20-22.Jul.2007

Landsberg am Lech holds its Ruethenfest every four years. The children of the town dress up in medieval and other historical costumes and tell the history of the town - a parade of floats etc goes through the town - not quite the notting hill carnival but still...

There are also jugglers, a medieval market, music etc

Although the town is expecting a lot of visitors, this festival isn't for tourists, but really a Landsberg tradition for the children.

Tonight (friday) there is a "mittelalterisches spectaculum" with men in armour etc

Tickets are: 3 euros for the spectaculum tonight
4 euros for a day ticket for Sat or Sun
or 8 euros for a pass for entry to everything

More info here (only in german) http://www.ruethenfest.de/

Well worth going to see, as you said not as highpowered as the Notting hill carnival but still great fun for kids.
