Hi,
I´m a new member here. Would someone advice me about apartments for rent in Düsseldorf. I will join company located in D´Dorf Oberkassel in October and looking for an apartment close to Oberkassel(Oberkassel itself is quite expensive). I have checked many offers and usually each offer includes some Provision for Rental finder...sad, I don´t want to pay "3rd person". Do you know if there are some Apartment complex/buildings owned by one company like for example in the US?? If yes, pls advice some links. And where can I find private offers(name of newspaper-web links help)??.
Many thanks
Litka

www.immobilienscout24.de is good, but you need to be quick to get the good places. I live here for about 5 years and I found Oberkassel, Pempelfort and Derendorf very nice. Get the Rheinischepost on early Saturday morning and you will get a good chance to find a private owner without paying the commision for the agent.

Hello!
I am moving to Düsseldorf in August to study for about 7 months. If work opportunities arise my stay my lengthen but for now I intend to be there from August 15th until March 1st.
I am looking for housing opportunities from September 1st through March 1st. Aside from expensive sites such as erent.com I have not found much in terms of googling rentals. Anyway helpful websites would be appreciated. Also, is there a roommate board anywhere that you know of? I am open to the possibility of having a roommate or multiple roommates.
I am outgoing, clean, organized, like to be social. Any help or advice that you may have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Ashley - if you're studying here you should be able to find a room through
www.studentenwerkdueseldorf.de - rooms for students and praktikanten in düsseldorf. They're not nice rooms...ie. typical student rooms, very basic and quite small, but they're also pretty cheap - and depending on which halls they place you in (some are quite antisocial, others have shared kitchens and are quite good socially) then they can be good for meeting people here too.

Rachel,
Thanks so much for your response! Unfortunately, because I am a guest student at the FH in Düsseldorf they have already told me that there is no space in student housing for me this fall. I am only able to study there if I arrange my own housing.
I will definitely check out easyroommate! Thank you so much.

Was it the university that u asked though about student halls? im an english student, but I dont study in Düsseldorf - I'm working here...and the University told me I couldn't get accommodation through them as I'm not a student at their University - so I got in touch with Studentenwerkduesseldorf and they rented a room out to me.
Just in case you haven't tried that!

Hi guys,
I'm moving to Dusseldorf for work (for about 6 months) in September, so I need to get a place sorted. Couple of questions:
1) the agency fees seem massive compared with the UK, typically 2 months rent! Have I been looking in the wrong places or is this just the way it is in Germany?
2) I've found an agency called
HomeCompany . Has anyone got any experience using these guys? They appeal to me because their site is available in english and they seem to have plenty of furnished places. Elsewhere on this forum I found some negative comments about their Munich branch... Any advice would be gratefully received.
thanks in advance!

If stuck for accommodation when you arrive, I have a decent sized apartment in Pempelfort (the nicest area, walking distance to OldTown, Rhine etc) with a spare room I occasionally let out for 25 Euros per night, bed linen, towels, full use of appt inkl.
The Provision you mention for accommodation is pretty standard although you will occasionally see ProvisionFrei but you would almost def need to be here for them to meet you for them to consider you a suitable tenant. Six month lets are also not that common as most landlords aim for 12-18 month contracts (albeit there's generally a get out clause somewhere within). Three months deposit is also standard!
There's quite a few other posts further down Life in NRW that mention other websites offering appartments or rooms to let in DDf, albeit mostly/all in German.
Best wishes, PM me if you want more info/photos of the room.

Hi all,
I will be moving to Germany on the 13th of September and i am searching for a 2 rooms apartment to rent.
For how much will it be? furnished and unfurnished? if unfurnished how much would it cost me to furnish it approximately
The unfurnished apartments have internet connection, TV cable and heating?
My work is in Neuss is it ok to live in Dusseldorf or too far? how much would it cost me to get to Neuss each day?
Where can i find good apartments to rent?
I will be staying in a hotel when i arrive but need to find one soon
thks

Hi,
Unfurnished apartments are more common and obviously cheaper. Prices range considerably depending on location, size and quality but I think you should consider about 600 a month minimum, but it depends what you want. Beware that many apartments are empty shells, some without kitchens, lights, even flooring in some cases. If an agent is selling the place they will charge a fee, called a provision. It is a complete con so look for places without this fee, but this limits your options.
Try immmobilienscout24.de.
I would choose Dusseldorf, public transport is quite good here.
Ikea is very popular here, you coud furnish a 2 bed place from about 2k, probably closer to 4k if you have to buy a kitchen too, but it all depends on your taste. There are many opportunities to get second hand furniture too, this is a much cheaper option, and at least your place will have character and not look like an Ikea catalogue.
Good luck!

Neuss is indeed quite close to Dusseldorf. VRR is the public transport region which includes Dusseldorf and Neuss. It'd cost you (on average) 90 Euros monthly to commute. More details can be found at this
VRR website.
