Hi guys,

Am moving from Leipzig to DD in September. Have heard about this Jim Beams Bar. I believe it's got Sky and Setanta. Can anyone help me and let me know how much of the British footy they show there? By the way, am travelling through to DD today and will probably try the bar out tomorrow night. Would be good to get some inside knowledge though.

Thanks in advance

James

Hi Problem with Jim Beams bar is that it is owned by a German, so if their is a German footy match then English footy is out.
Try the shamrock, owned by a non German and you get all the English footy.

Much better than Beams which is finished as another Irish pub has opened near by.

Does it necessarily mean that a long established bar is "finished" because a new bar has opened?

It will give the customers more choice.

Jim Beams has had it coming for sometime. Most of its income is taken from expats.
Speaking to a lot of the expats they certainly don't plan on returning. Passing Jim Beams there is no activity
there at all. The pub is finished it is only a matter of time.

Most I disagree, a lot yes but not most in my opinion..

Jim Beams bar has been there nine or so year I think, yes a lot of ex-pats drink htere, however I do not think that a bar, any bar can survive in Dresden only ex-pat customers

Jim Beams has always been dead in Summertime coz there is nowhere to sit outside and there is no footie on.

This is my opinion and I really do not care what happens.

I was only trying to make the point that sometime a bit of competition is good.

I agree with you Deccie! Also, Jim Beams is still a cool place to go especially when the weather is not so nice. To be it's always been more familiar than anywhere else. Oh well, people are different...

I guess i should eventually try it again. Promised myself i would not go back after they changed the TV channel when i was watching the Arsenal match.
