I would also disqualify Solent Gale and his wife, but that's because I know them and I know it would annoy the hell out of them!
This season is a mystery to me, just when I think I'm recovering I get stuffed by the FA Cup results, bloody Gerrard!
I guess I need the African Cup of Nations to bite, or a plague of something horrible to strike...!
Sin
Yer not gonna believe this. I don't believe it will last but I'm joint 3rd as we speak. No. I mean Lions has amassed 53 points (and they're still playin) and catapulted up to 7th in the league.

QUOTE (Sin @ Jan 16 2008, 3:52 pm) *
Just checked the Telegraph FF website. Last nights points are being marked up for Week 24.
Our rules state that transfers come into effect Wednesday.

QUOTE (sharpe @ Jan 16 2008, 4:39 pm) *
I agree. We should not change rules now. Same happened for the transfers of 1st of Jan.

I disagree. I'd change the rules to state that transfers are effective the following week based on the Telegraph's allocation of points. As an example, a transfer on Friday would be effective in Week 25 -- and we leave it up to the Telegraph to determine whether the week begins on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Hell, we let them decide MotM already.

We changed the transfer rules midway last year, so this is not unprecedented. Anything up until the date of the rule change would be subject to the old rules of course, but I think we should live and die by the Telegraph's allocation of points to a given week rather than forcing 3 Lions to backtrack it all the time.
sharpe
Telegraph updates points every day. They update 1 day after any game. (not even a day, usually around 11 am) If you look at my post (# 672), i am asking the same question (if the transfer would be eligible on Tuesday). The reason for that was, i was thinking to put Gerrard in team if he would be eligible. I dont think it is fair to change the rules right after a game. If a rule will be changed it should be posted here before it becomes effective.
Joliet Jake
The Telegraph may update points every day, but they also group those points by week -- that's the important point. I'm advocating changing the rule with sufficient notice (1-2 weeks) so that everyone can adjust accordingly.
Sin
In reality JJ I think 3 Lions has to go with what The Telegraph is doing otherwise it'll get out of hand and become a full time job for the poor bugger. It's only a game remember.
Jimbo
I'm with whatever's easiest for 3Lions provided there's a bit of notice (i.e. not adopted retrospectively). 3L does a fair bit of work to keep this running and it's only fair that we cut the guy some slack - it's not like he's being paid (though on the basis of last night's points he may well win it!).
3 Lions
As I explained in post #742, at the start of the year the FF site only updated on a Wednesday and is always slow at the start of the season. Yes there was a rule change at this time last year and its clear I need to tweak it again.

So as of this week, if you send me a transfer, it will take effect from the following FF week. If you send me a transfer now, it would be active wk25.

Now about Solent Gales extra points, I've moved the wk24 pts for Keane and Hunt in to wk23. So he is back at 845pts now.

sharpe
ok, does the "following ff week" start with the weekday games?
3 Lions
Assuming that the Telegraph counts a week as Mon to Sun, then yes, the following week would start Monday.
sharpe
ok great, then isn't it best to get updated file on mondays, with weekend results and transfers (for next week) in? With that one update a week should be enough.
sharpe
great night for me smile.gif

MOMs as of now

Fulham - Arsenal =Adebayor
Reading - Manchester United =Ronaldo
Portsmouth - Derby County =Benjani
Birmingham City - Chelsea = Belletti
Tottenham Hotspur - Sunderland =Cerny

3 Lions
Just updating the transfers for week 25.

I wont get carried away with my current form, this is likely my 15 minutes push in FF that gets me to finish 5th...again.
sharpe
Wow Sin got the Gerrard in and he was the one saying we should not He is so sneaky. blink.gif
bluedave
Still worryingly close to the relegation zone. unsure.gif
sharpe
3 lions, 1 comment. When i look at tahe file you sent it looks like yesterday's M.city vs West ham game is not included. I see Elano and Petrov's points are not registered.
3 Lions
Yep, I noticed that too. When I logged in to the site this morning it had the last update as 20th Jan, I've just checked again now and its says 21st Jan and some of the points that werent there before are there now, give me a few moments to update wk24... rolleyes.gif
TheDevilHimself
3 Lions: In the wk23 file which you had sent earlier, my transfers Cahill and Rooney were in the 'Transfer' sheet but not in the actual table? Can you pls check on that too. These transfers should have been active from the FA cup first round games.
sharpe
Liverpool 2- Aston Villa 2. 88th minute Crouch goal saves Benitez.
3 Lions
I'm updating the file to include last nights game. It's also been brought to my attention that there are a few errors in some of the player points, I've located each and every one and am updating each one, so the file will be corrected and updated today. I dont see anyhwere where there is a major error, so no one should worry...he says!

EDIT: DONE!! Below is the updated table. I've gone over the file with a very fine tooth comb and corrected every minor error.
sharpe
I made an analysis on the top 7 teams. All 7 teams have Ronaldo, 6 teams have Lescott in common. 4 teams have Adebayor,Gerrard and Fabregas. 3 teams have Sol Campbell, Evra and Keane. 3 team has 5 unique players. 3 team has 3 and 1 team has only 1 unique player
Jimbo
Jesus. Can we just conclude from that that I'm gonna win and give me the money?
sharpe
Pray on Berbatov smile.gif

I think Telegraph made a mistake on Adebayor. He scored 2 and got the MoM and got only 12 points? Somehow they forgot to credit him for MoM. I am expecting a correction from them later this week. smile.gif
3 Lions
Who else got MoM at weekend? It looks like the telegraph hasnt added them at all? mad.gif
sharpe
They screwed big time. They showed 2 MoMS for some games. For Liverpool, Chelsea, Boro and Pompey games they chose 2 different Moms for each game and forgot to choose even 1 for Arsenal game (This morning they said it is Adebayor, however no points given). For example in Chelsea game, they chose SWP in one report and they chose Anelka in another (and credited him in FF) and now they say Carvalho

Boro :Huth
Liverpool: Benayoun
Arsenal: Adebayor
Pompey: Diarra
Chelsea :Carvalho
Jimbo
Who got it for United v Spurs? To my mind it should have been Keane, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they awarded it to Tevez. Or even bloody Dawson knowing them.
sharpe
Ronaldo obviously. But looks like they did not credit him as well

Edit : It is Owen Hargreaves. Another 2 MOMs here, 1 report shows Ronaldo other Hargreaves
Jimbo
Hargreaves deserves it a lot more than Ronaldo - Ronaldo netted twice, but once was from the spot, and he was pretty lacklustre for 85 of the 90mins. How many points did that balloon score in the City game?
3 Lions
The final weekly update will be tomorrow, so I'll check again then.

Talk about shot in the foot by your own fans. sad.gif

Ok i wrote to Telegraph and they replied really fast.

Thank you for your recent correspondence.

Adebayor has received 15 points for week 25. When games are played at the weekend in the FA Cup, the points for man of the match are not updated until the points update on Monday morning I'm afraid.

The 3 points have been added to all the players who were awarded man of the match at the weekend.

Kind regards
Jimbo

Yep - did you see the balloons? They had a picture of Elano on and the phrase 'It's just like watching Brazil'. Quite.
TheDevilHimself
Also, shouldn't Fabregas be awarded an assist for Le Arse's third goal? Nicky Butt 'scored' from his freekick !

Nope they havent, I just checked the site. No change to this mornings points.

I'll check tomorrow.
sharpe
Yep, Adebayor got 3 more today
sharpe
Unbelievable. Telegraph says "Stewart Downing delivers for Fabio Capello" on the title, writes full page of how good he played last night and then choose" Wheater" as MoM

3 Lions
Here is the first update of this week, I'll do another tomorrow after tonights games.

sharpe
Komland is amazing. He made only one transfer ages ago, effectively playing with 9 men and still holds to the top
Jimbo
3 Lions impresses too - from bottom of the league to top 4 in about 2 months. Don't fancy a job at Spurs do you mate?
3 Lions
Breaking in to the top three will be difficult, if not impossible. Its at this stage of the season that everyone usually makes 'safe' transfers to secure their League place.
Jimbo
That's exactly what I did. And dropped two spots. Bollocks. (though I realise most of my lot are playing tonight, not last night).
sharpe
It is indeed getting though as all squads now are becoming very similiar. Ronaldo, Gerrard, Adebayor now are not making you happy when they score. This is why your Berbatov-Keane duo looks very good selection to me. I also find making transfers from Chelsea very risky, as when African bunch returns your man can jump to the bench.
