Munich needs an Elvis Presley-themed steakhouse

For people who love meat tender

Everywhere I've been, the steaks are crap. If they're not burnt to a crisp they're full of of tendons and cartilage that you'll be chewing on for a week before you can swallow. The generally poor quality meat isn't even good enough to grind into hamburgers (which are also always over-cooked despite specifying they be cooked for two minutes on one side and one minute on the other). Where's a good place to get a good steak, made from good meat and cooked properly? A salad bar would be a plus.

woof.

I had a fantastic steak in a restaurant out in Freising, in a small courtyard just off Untere Hauptstr. Can't remember the name of the place, but it was the first steak I drooled over in Germany. I'll post the name if I can find it ...

Meat hygene regulations state that while minced meat may be served raw (tartar) that if it is cooked it has to be FULLY cooked.
Which is why places don't cook burgers pink in the middle.

Meat hygene regulations

Phooey! If it can be served raw, it can be served less-than-fully-cooked (and yes, I know two different sources are used). If a restaurant agrees to cook it less-than-fucking-burnt and then goes ahead and burns the fucking burger anyway, that's a problem. If they want to sell a fucking burger for €8-10 they damned well need to prepare them the way the customer wants it.

woof.

May be phooey but dem is da ROOLZ as I understand it.
Raw tartar is seen as less dangerous than partly cooked mince in terms of food poisoning and it's these processes,
large surface areas meat products and partially cooked that are a problem. Just thing kebab spits.

Sometimes the waiter goes yeah sure, burger pink in the middle but the chef knows its illegal and nukes it.

Whether the law is bollix, is of course a matter of opinion.

This wouldn't be the Kaminstub'n on the edge of Bayerischzell, would it? Best meat I've eaten in Germany by a country mile there.

Brenner Grill does fantastic steaks and will cook how you want them to.
Salad bar? It's not a canteen FFS.

And I'm shocked that the mods haven't done a thread merge on this already.

Beat me to it Katrina.. I always love to bring that one out of the vault when people complain about steak here.. I've never had a better steak, or even one that came close. I'll embed the picture here.. it's worth it.

Steak is, however, generally crap here..

The problem is that the butchers here don't know their rump-roast from a hole in the ground.

As far as an Elvis style restaurant, do you want your steak with or without the grilled peanutbutter and banana sandwich?

A hunk of burning lurve you mean?
