Cool, thanks. Do you know of one near a U or S-bahn? I'm still recovering from knee surgery so I can't take the bike or walk too far.

According to the Filialfinder on the website Keydeck linked to, there are 4 in Munich:
A.T.U München
Landsberger Strasse 208 D-80687 München
A.T.U München Triebstrasse 39 D-80993 München
A.T.U München
Frankfurter Ring 228 D-80807 München
A.T.U München Boschetsrieder Strasse 54-56 D-81379 München
I can tell you that the one on the
Landsberger Str is quite a way from public transport, but the others you should be able to find on a map and see the distance...

Kathie, the one on
Landsbergerstr is right by a tram stop. I think it's Lautensackstr on the 18/19 line.

Hmm... you may be right about that. I can't picture where the one on the
Landsberger Str is, but it's just occured to me that I'm thinking of the one on the Bodenseestr (effectively the same road), which for some strange reason isn't listed.

You mean Lowerhaching?
Just had a word with my brother: he thinks it's better you ask somebody to bring you some sparkplugs from UK: the German ones may not fit into your car as they are usually right-winding.

What? There are cars that have left hand threaded spark plugs?
1. I find that VERY hard to believe.
2. WHY!

1. Yes, there is a day in every man's life where he has to learn something new

I think this is what's known as a wind up! You'll be telling us next that cars in Britain have the foot pedals reversed next.

ok, name a production car that has reverse threaded spark plugs.
I have certainly never seen left-hand threaded spark plugs for sale in the UK.

All of them: the Triumphs, the Aston Martins and - this is the reason why Ralph Schumacher quit their team - McLarens.
The latter by the way is going to break up its F1 team with Mercedes because the Germans insist on having their way with the plugs, just the way Williams
gave in to the BMW. But old McLaren won't have it.
Read this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz..._McLaren#EngineThe SLR McLaren sports a 232-kilogram (511.8 lb), hand-built, 5.4-litre (5439 cc/331.9 cu in), supercharged, all-aluminum, SOHC V8 engine. The cylinders are angled at 90 degrees with three valves per cylinder and lubricated via a dry sump system. True to German tradition all spark plugs are left winding. The compression ratio is 8.8:1 and the bore and stroke is 97 milimetre (3.82 in) and 92 milimetre (3.62 in), respectively. The Lysholm-type twin-screw supercharger produces 0.9 bar (13 psi) of boost, the turbine rotates at 23000 revolutions per minute, and the air is cooled via two intercoolers. The engine generates a maximum power of 626 PS (617 hp/460 kW) at 6500 revolutions per minute and a maximum torque of 780 newton-metre (575 lb·ft) at 3250 revolutions per minute.

The problem with using UK sparkplugs on the mainland is not the threading, which is of course normal righthanded, but the fact that the UK plugs will have been calibrated to dealing with petrol purchased in gallons and petrol purchased in Germany will be in litres. the plugs will be fouled on a regular basis.
Experienced motorists will always have a ferret handy as a quick rub of a ferret's tail is the fastest and most efficent method to clean the plugs.
Make sure to wipe your hands off afterwards, especially before using the starting handle.
Edit: at a pinch an angora hamster might work as well.

Do you know of a suitable method for getting the gunk off the ferret's tail before putting him back down your trousers?
Yeti
Jul 19 2007, 9:12 am
Drawing the ferret's tail between the sole of your hobnailed boot and the peak of a flat cap held at right angles to the sole will clean the animals tail without subjected it to undue discomfort.
The action is reminiscent of a morris dancing step known as "scratching the ham".
Oh and tweed plus fours are the best combination of leg covering and ferret storage. Keeping one on the hat shelf at the back of the motor is rather racy and nouveau riche.
