Just happen across this. Cinema München is now charging 5.50euro for kinotags. They are of course still adding the extra euro for the longer running films. Still a good deal though, but wonder if others will do so as well. I hope they don't raise the price the sneak too dry.gif

Thats more expensive than the "gasp" german kinos. Do people really have to pay a premium to watch a movie in its original language?

It is not a "premium" because it is in English. It as always been the same as the German theatres (all of the nicer ones have been 5 euro for kinotag as long as I have been here). It is just that they raised it 50 cents in the last couple weeks. I was just curious to see if it woudl also go to 5.50 at the other cinemas. Will have to wait and see I guess.

Still very cheap compared, say, to what you might pay in London (or the UK generally). Even a concessionary ticket is more than 8 euros in most UK cinemas, and full price in London can be as much as 16/17 euros. We are very lucky here in MUC to get such good deals.

5.50 this is cheap – the circle London Odeon Leicester Square last time I was there cost me 19.50 euros but with the sound and the giant screen it was worth every penny,

Still a good deal though

No one is saying at all that the tickets are too expensive. I just wanted to make sure people were aware of the increase and wondered if any other cinemas were also increasing.

I go to Cinema once or twice a week (albeit always for sneak or kinotag) so please dont think that I was saying anything negative about it. I love the place. Should buy some stock in it come to think of it wink.gif

yes it might still be cheap but at least if you go into a vue cinema in london, you got leg space, good air conditioning and generally a good seat (and you have more films showing). the cinema has none of those things.
i go to the cinema on a regular basis because its nearby, films are in english and not because it's great or confortable. and it should be cheap as it doesn't provide quality cinema.
(just my opinion) smile.gif

agree with plantemoni...
was the point I was trying to make. If you compare the price of the tickets at Cinema München with those of "similar" german kinos in Munich, so that excludes places like Mathäser (which btw also does english movies), then it does come out a bit on the more expensive side. Hence I was asking if watching a movie in its original language,in such a venue, needed to bring with it a higher price.

Of course, just to be sure, we are talking about prices of the Kinotag tickets and not the full price tickets. Horses for courses.
