On the website of the IKG it says they offer Ulpan (Hebrew classes) and I've been trying to reach them (by phone as well as by email) but haven't been able to catch hold of anyone so far...does anyone where I could find good Hebrew classes in Munich? Any suggestions/tips/advice welcome (been looking classes for quite a while now)! Thanx!
Sinderbox
If anyone is interested in practicing Hebrew, we could make up a group for chatting once in a while.
zydenbos
Well, I can't really 'practice' yet coz I'd have to learn it first :(
Sinderbox
That reminds me once in Israel I taught a whole afternoon a group of people a specific card game I was longing to play.
Do you think you could learn Hebrew in a long afternoon?

Try it:

Ani Lomedet
Hu Lomed
Anachnu Lomdim...
She-Ra
As far as I know there are Hebrew courses in LMU...
MonksTown
And at the VHS too I think.

@ Sinderbox - got as far as 'ani lo medaberet Ivrit' when I was in Tel Aviv a month ago...

@ She-Ra - Yeah, they do offer classes at the LMU but you need to be an enrolled student to attend them..and I'm not anymore :(

@ MonksTown - will have a look again, but as far as I know it was all booked out the last time I checked their website...

Fantastic! From there to "Ani medaberet Ivrit" is just a very small step.
No afternoon needed.
zydenbos
hahaha...I'm not too sure about that though, let me have a look at the VHS website and see if anything's still free anytime soon.

It's so funny to read here about you guys trying learn Hebrew ,
Me and my Family moved from Israel to Munich 6 month ago.
Our kids are at the Jewish kindergarten.
Now come the funny thing,
a lots of parents don't want to send there kids to the IKG school/kindergarten for the reson
they always cuts the Hebrew lessons.
But no one is doing nothing against that.
The IKG do what ever they want it's seems that there is no control for the education of this community.
Other thing (maybe i wrong on that ...) all letters coming from the IKG are in German once a while there are both german and Russian ,
But for hell there are quite people here which still not German / Russian speakers.

I don't have other alterantives for my kids so i'm part of this community.

What do you think?

That reminds me that once during an exam at the Uni in Israel the immigrants were asked to rise their hands.
I did, and they took out my exam papers and replaced them with the Russian version !@$£%£

Funny anecdotes aside, I must say Ronen that I do not get your point.
What do we think about what? smile.gif

Nothing free at the VHS for the time being and the IKG doesn't reply either sad.gif it seems like I'm doomed to not learn Hebrew *boo hoo*
She-Ra
Have you tried Berlitz?
zydenbos
Just checked Berlitz, they don't seem to offer anything either...eventhough they do offer 'Englischkurs Bronx' :)

Hi, I just read what you've written and if anybody is interrested in Hebrew lessons ,I teach Hebrew in VHS in Freising and I'm ready to take part in a privet innitiative for a teaching-group.
If you're interrested write me back.

Hi, I would be interested too in any initiative like this.
I need to start from the beginning hebrew course, since I'm planning to make aliah in few years.
If there is any training after work hours or in the weekends... I would gladly do it (if affordable).
Please let me know if anybody knows something more.

I don't really get that one... they cut the lessons down or the lessons cost...? huh.gif Regarding the German letters, the IKG is a so called "Körperschaft des öffentlichen Rechts", which means they basically are part of the authorities and since German is the official language, all official letters have to be German. Some invitations or some of the monthly member letters are send in Russian as well, because a lot of the older Immigrants from Russia, Ukraine... don't speak a word of German. The community consists of members from all over the world and nearly every European language... if they would send a letter for every mother tongue spoken, these letters would turn into packets - it's German since we're in Germany and Russian to integrate those who won't learn German any more (also these two are by far the two most spoken languages in the community by far).

Have you heard of them by now? If not, how did you try to reach them? Give em at least a week to answer (so they should have by now wink.gif )...

I thought Hebrew was a male Tea bag... unsure.gif

NB: The VHS runs on terms and the courses start twice a year. next courses are going to start mid to end September I guess.
zydenbos
Yup, the new course schedule should available online from 04.sept onwards...lets see whats available then...
Sinderbox
Did you try some language exchange? You will probably need some free fixed date/hours, but also for the VHS.
Staaaaaaaaam.
