How much do technical support employees get paid in a multinational company like IBM, NetApp, Symantec, HP or Cisco? Companies belonging to this range of companies.

Thanks for your inputs!

How long is a piece of string?
Awalokiteswara
What string are you talking about? You mean my question is too long?
oozen
No, I mean your question is too vague.

I am waiting for my offer letter from a multinational company for the role of a technical support engineer. (My Experience 3 yrs)

It is a high end product used in small to medium enterprises.

I dont want to get a shock when I receive the offer letter.

So can anybody share this info with me. Net income per month for a technical support engineer in a giant company.

30,000 to 45,000 euros i reckon

?
egg
that would be yearly of course
Awalokiteswara
Does technical support as a profession belong to Minderarbeitsloehne? A profession in which one is not paid that well ?
And then there must be 40 % Income tax, i guess?
2,500 for a single person in Munich, how does that sound like? sad.gif(

actually, although this link is from February 2006, the Durchschnittsverdienst, i.e. average salary, which won't have gone up much since then, was at the time considerably lower than what you consider to be LOW earnings:

average salaries in Germany

so maybe its your expectation that is incorrect ?
Awalokiteswara
Oh..and what about the tax? I want to be able to save 500 + euro. Will that be then possible. And I do want to live a comfortable life in Germany!

no, the actual income tax is much less than that. But you have to pay various things such as pension and health insurance, so the total 'tax' will indeed be around 40% probably

Again with the aforementioned piece of string. What is a comfortable life to you might be the height of extravagence or the depths of misery to someone else.

You need to slow down, do some research and formulate your thoughts a little better about the information you would like to receive. Otherwise any info you receive will be piece-meal, potentially misleading and probably only leave you with more questions.

Thank you for all the replies.
Well what I need is about 500 - 700 Euros as saving after all the monthly expenses are done. So what is the salary that I should be looking at, given that I am going to take up a technical support role(non entry level).

thats a pretty hefty saving. You may not be entry level but 3 years isnt far off 'entry level'.

As mentioned above, define 'comfortable life'. E.g. do you want your own apartment, does it have to be in the city centre. Do you want/need a car.

I would say you probably need 1500 a month for a 'comfortable life'. Add on 500 so 2000 net which means your salary before tax would need to be around 3500 per month probably - which is very good for someone doing some technical support with 3 years experience I would say

What for me comfortable means:
Well I dont need to own an apartment. A wohngemeinschaft will do or a house near the office so that i can commute by a bicycle. The WG should have a separate room for myself. Also I dont need a car, if the public transport is well available. So i would say I would spend money only on the house rent + living costs (food, gym, phone, clubbing, public transport costs, a nice vacation a year)..

sorry I meant 'your own apartment' (rather than to own an apartment). I still say you need 1000-1500 (ie 2600-3500 pre-tax if you include your 500 saving)
