Hi there,
I am a mother of two (4 years, 3 months), German, and thoroughly bored out of my mind. My English is going to the dogs and I am really craving the chance to speak it. So if you can use someone like me for your group, I'd be really happy to join. The big sister is in the Kindergarden during the day, so me and the little one would be free to meet for coffee and a bottle of powdered milk. Hope to hear from you or other moms/moms to be. I am a veritable fountain of good advice when it comes to babies and the joys of motherhood.

Hi Anita and Claudia,
I would love to meet you ladies as I've just moved to Frankfurt and have a 2-year old. Likewise, I speak little German. However, as I'm working, I would only be able to meet during the weekends. Are you ladies planning to meet soon? Do PM me.

Hi everyone,
I suggest we wait for Anita to come back from India before we all meet. Any ideas where? There's the Zebulon in
Bockenheim, but it's only open from 3 p.m. which would be rather too late for me as I have to pick up the big one from Kindergarten at 4 p.m. By the way, I live in
Sachsenhausen so I'd prefer to meet somewhere central. How about Cafe Karin near the Hauptwache? As far as I know they have a non-smoking section.
Greetings

Any chance we can make meet at Schillerstrasse as it's near my work place and I can pop by during lunch or we can have tea. I'm not sure of the names of the cafes there, so any suggestions would be great. When is Anita coming back?

Hey there!
I would love to join in on the "mommy" fun . . . I am American (Miami) and my husband is German. I live in Wiesbaden but I can take the train to Frankfurt (just need some good directions as I am not that familiar) to hang out. I think my daughter would love the trip as well. We have some great places to hang out here too if anyone is ever interested in making a trip this way . . . Please let me know when the meet-up will be scheduled for as I would love to come.

Hello everyone,
There is a Starbucks on the corner of Schillerstraße and Börsenplatz. So we could meet either there (and fatten up some evil mult-national coffee corporation with our money) or as I suggested at the Cafe Karin which is a 5-minute walk away from Schillerstraße in Großer Hirschgraben (and pay loads of money to them for the same thing but in a nicer atmosphere

).
Any preferences as to what day and time? How about Thursday, 2 August, at 2 p.m. at the Cafe Karin? If all of you can manage to come I'll book a table for us. Right?
Greetings

Hi...i think Cafe Karin isn`t a good idea..there is no place for the children to play.I have been there 4 weeks ago and althought there is a non smoking area the place was full of smoke.
I am very sorry but i cannot hold me almost 3 years old son in his stroller. He wants to walk around like all kids want to and this Cafe isn`t the right place.
What about the Zebulon in
Bockenheim???Thats a very nice place..for both kids and moms...
This wekk is not possible for me because we have the family from the states here..
How about next week??Is Anita back from india???
We could also meet in a park...

Hi all,
I live in
Sachsenhausen. Anitha has been a very good friend, philosopher and guide for me ever since I moved to Frankfurt. Wish I had known her earlier.
Anyway, I would like to join you guys too. I dont have much to do at the moment(a better way of saying that I'm at home doing nothing). So, name a time and I'm all yours.
BTW, I still don't have a kid, and I probably can make use of some of your expertise there
Hope to see you all soon!

Hi Gals...
Luks like lots of activity going on... I was busy organizing my brother's wedding and I am yet to leave.. But the enthusiasm that I see going on tempted me to meet you all before I leave... I agree with Claudia..as my son too will not prefer to sit in a place while we chat.. He is two years old... Any place that is suitable for us tired and bored moms and our super active kids will do .. Just that please make the directions clear as I am not well versed with the routes around here...
Claudia could you please take up on organizing the meet for this time (I hope you dont mind)

... We will do it by turn..I will do it once I get back from India...(I am available till 19th august on weekdays ... then I will be back in October first week)...All please suggest a place suitable.. I too stay in
Sachsenhausen...
waiting to hear from all

Hi Anita...now i have to organize the meet...that`s fine with me.
Ok,let`s get started:
What time and day: first of all wie have to find a day and time..to everybody who is interested to come:weekday or weekend???
I am on vacation right now,i don`t have to work so i don`t care. But i will leave the town for a mother-child-spa on august 15. What about next week??? Any special wishes???
Location: well,i have to know how many moms of you are planning to come to the meet. If the weather is fine we all could meet at a park. That`s the best for the children. The cafe Zebulon isn`t that big.
How many of you are planning to come???

Claudia,
I would really like to come and join in but I am not sure if it will be possible. I live in Wiesbaden not Frankfurt. While I don't mind taking the train into the city, I am not that familiar with Frankfurt and they have been throwing out names and places that are literally alien to me. SO I guess if you get a location decided on and I can figure out howto get there I would come. I would prefer weekday as the weekends are family time with daddy and they both love that so much.

Hi everyone,
not to worry Claudia (=lucasmama). I think Anita actually meant me as I had already suggested a time and date. It's a bit confusing as we're both named Claudia. Anyway, I have another suggestion to make: How about the cafe at the Museum für Kommunikation on Schaumainkai? It is absolutely smoke-free and they don't mind children running around and playing there.
The Cafe Karin would have been better for those from out of town, but if the majority don't like it, then that's that. Apart from the Museum für Kommunikation I can't actually think of anything else that is fairly central, smoke-free and child-friendly.
Cafe Zebulon is bang in the middle of
Bockenheim and the parking situation there is hellish, to say the least. Besides, it is closed during school holidays until 23 August!
So if all of you agree to the above suggestion, please let me know a) how many of you would like to come and

what date and time would be allright with most of you. I don't think all of us can manage the same day and/or time, so we won't be able to accommodate everyone. How about Thursday next week, 9 August? 2 p.m.?
Let me know and I'll see that you get directions how to get there.
Cheers

Hi everyone!
Thursday the 9th is fine for me but where is the Museum für Kommunikation on Schaumainkai??? Is it easy to reach by train? If the parking is not good I don't want to drive it but I will also need something that is convenient by train. Anyone famiiar with the transportation system yet?
You can find the directions here:
http://www.museumsstiftung.de/frankfurt/d3...erviceinfos.aspWe could even arrange to meet at Schweizerstr and go together from there.
Did you already know about
www.rmv.de? You can check the pubic transport connections in the website.

Hi everyone,
I agree that it might be easiest to meet at Schweizer Platz and then go to the museum together. From Wiesbaden, you should be able to take a S-Bahn to Hauptwache and there change into an underground to Schweizer Platz (U1, U2 or U3, they all go there). Parking on Schaumainkai is not impossible but you'd have to pay the parking metre a hefty 2 EUR per hour.
Should the weather be fine, we could go down to the Main which is just across the street. There's a cafe down there as well and we could sit on the grass or a blanket. It's really very nice there. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
See you there!

As I was the one to suggest the museum, I'll make sure to be the first one to arrive. How about I put a small white teddy bear on the table (you know like Knut)? So if you see a mother with curly blonde hair holding a 4-month old boy in jeans dungarees and a mop of dark hair, that'll probably be me.
See you all Thursday.

Hi to all
Thats a good question Hausfrau... I think the earlier posts said we meet at schwizer platz... and then move to the museum... Since the weather is not good and it will be a problem waiting in the rain with the kids ... we better meet at the museum cafe and look for Claudias teddy bear on the table..(nd of course the other descriptions also

)..
So meet u all at 2.00pm in Communication Museum in the cafe...

Hi everyone,
I am so sorry but I have to cancel at the last minute. Our 4-month-old has just fallen ill and I have to go and see a doctor about it later today. Hope you have a good time! I am sure you will be able to recognise each other, even without the help of my little white teddy bear. Hopefully, no major catastrophe will happen next time and I will be able to join you then.
Have fun.

Claudia,
I am sorry that you 4-month old is not feeling well. Hopefully it is nothing serious. Unfortunately, NO ONE else showed up (except for Colleen and myself). Luckily we already knew each other but if she would not have been there, well . . . needless to say I would not have been very happy especially since I drove from Wiesbaden. So, here is what I propose: we develop a contact sheet and anyone who is planning on attending the meet-ups can fill out their contact information. That way if there is a cancellation or change inplans, we have a phone-tree that can be initiated to ensure that no one is left sitting and wondering . . . Let me know your thoughts on this as I would like to plan another get together.

Hi everyone,
That didn't work out too well, did it? Paul has got gastroenteritis which is contagious so it was after all a good thing we couldn't make it. And yes, I think it would be a good idea to swap phone numbers. How should we go about it? I really don't fancy posting my mobile no. on this forum. You never know where it might end up.
Do you all think we can manage a second attempt before 30 August, as we will be going on holiday then?

'PM' stands for 'Personal Message'. You can send a personal message to anyone on the forum; in this case, it prevents people from having to post their phone numbers publicly. Click the little box marked 'PM', on the left under my username and location, and you'll be able to send me a message. Not that I want you to, but you get the point.

Hello Everyone,
Hope all is well. I would like to try to organize another get-together and thought that "family time" would be a good option for an outing. Wiesbaden is having it's annual "wien" festival (which ends on Sunday). If anyone is interested, and the weather permits, we can arrange to meet up at a specified location (i.e., train station or downtown) and head to the festival. It is a good opportunity to take in the sights of the town and there are some nice parks and things for children to do. Husbands/boyfriends/significant others are more than welcome (actually they are encouraged) to join as it allows the "moms' a little time to chat and relax.
If anyone is interested, send me a PM with your contact information and I will call everyone with the details and what-not's!!
Looking forward to meeting you all!!!

Hi ladies,
I'd just like to mention that we'd be interested in activities with other English speaking kids. I have mine (G-12, B-10, B-8, and G-6) on weekends. They speak English and German well. I'm not much good for a tea party or coffee klatsch...outdoor activities are more our thing. We live about 15 mins West of the Flughafen so we're close to Mainz, Wiesbaden, Darmstadt, and Frankfurt.
Anyone interested, drop me a line.
