The Unions-Bräu will be providing the beer for the street festival at the Friedensengel this weekend, so if you haven't tried their beer yet, this is a good opportunity (weather permitting).

The festival starts at 5pm on Friday, and ends Sunday night. As well as food, drink, & live music, there's also entertainment provided for children, with a carousel, magicians (Sat & Sun from 2pm) and face painting (Sun, 2pm-6pm).

If you're up to it, you can also have a Weisswurst breakfast on Sunday between 11am and 1pm.

Nice tip for a weekend bike destination.
The band promises to be totally Bayerisch-naff, but this can actually be a lot of fun if you're open for it. biggrin.gif
About the Högl-Fun-Band featured Fri, Sat, and Sunday at the Friendensengelfest:

QUOTE

The weather forecast is good, so I'll definitely peddle by for at least one beer.

Was thinking of heading over there after the Japanfest, but reality set in (ok talked out of it) and went to Hofgarden instead.

A group of us went late on Sunday afternoon and had an excellent time. It was fairly empty when we arrived, but the sun was still out in full force - as the evening progressed the place filled up. A Mass of beer was €6.50 plus €5 deposit (they were also selling something pink that turned out to be rhubarb schorle/spritzer).

The band performed from just after 5.30pm till 10.15pm and covered mostly international songs, including Swing numbers & the Blues Brothers, followed by a medley of German-language hits (e.g. 99 Luftballons, Major Tom, Amadeus), finishing the evening off with classic rock. Basically a lot of the songs you get to hear at the Oktoberfest, without the oompah music in-between.

Where we were sitting everyone was singing along, and by the end people of all ages were dancing at the front. We thought it was much better than some of the other street festivals this year, but I suppose it just depends on individual taste (and the beer was good).
