I currently have Dtelekom DSL at home and after two months I am completely sick of it. It starts and stops in fits and there is no rhyme or reason to it. I travel with the same laptop all over Asia and the US for business and I never have a problem with internet connections. Can anyone recommend a better service here in Munich? I may be wrong but I remember DSL being terrible 8 years ago. Isn't cable better and can you get that in Munich? Thanks!

Sorry to say, I’ve been experiencing the same thing with O2. However, my neighbor in the same building (Gisela Str) is experiencing the same thing. No matter what provider you have, it all connects back to the same T-com hardware… so if that’s what’s experiencing the problems, everyone will.

It has been better lately for me. But I did experience some weeks were the connection would drop randomly one or more times in an hour.

I have a friend who uses Alice, when using WLAN the connection keeps breaking up - it's usually ok when he plugs it in.

WLAN is something different though... and problems with that are probably local... microwaves, etc can interfere.

weird thing I had with WLAN was bluetooth interfearance... they both use 2.4Ghz, bluetooth on = wifi drops, bluetooth off = wifi fine...

in the end I bought an Apple Airport Extreme, which solved the wifi problem smile.gif

I've got DSL with MNet and it too keeps on breaking the connection for no apparent reason. dry.gif

I have cable internet with cablesurf and so far so good.
WLAN has cut out now and again (i.e. on average once or twice a week) but think that is more to do with electrical interference.
If this is the problem you are having you should try changing the channel number on your router.

Only took a few hours to set up. None of this 3 or 4 weeks waiting for this and that with DSL providers. More info from my post on here:

I have Alice for the past 4 months, it only broke the WLAN connection twice within this period, but that was exactly at the same time (in the middle of the night), so I figure that was either for IP refreshing, maintenance, ...
