And why are they so hard to find? Do Germans not use this method?

Being male I am limited in my knowledge, but my experience is they take the DIY route.

As for me - I've tried the DIY kits. My technique is terrible, so I end up inflicting more pain than anything.

I Wax professionally part-time here in AUS (Sydneysiders are obsessed with waxing) and am going to bring over my salon equipment just encase I can do some part time work with it when I move later in the year to Hamburg.

I'll be based in Bremen but would prob be interested if you're setting up shop? Wys...

My German man always gives me the 'please shut up' look when I begin my 'soooo, do you wax or shave...' hehehehe.

Well if you can get down to Bergen (near Celle) my girlfriend has a nail studio (in the process of moving to a bigger shop now) and she does waxing aswell.

@ miwild - thanks for the key words. I did find a few listings. Most of them are high priced salons (40 Euro just for eyebrows!!!), but this one seemed decent:

Great glad I found this site then as I'll need a way to make a little extra money as part-time au pairing doesn't pay the best, lol - will be arriving the begining of November at the very latest- I'm bringing loads of suplies with me but hopefully once i'm there I'll be able to find a place to buy professional wax (both hot and strip) in bulk. as eventually the stocks I have with me will run out-

I'm a fully Qualifed Beauty therapist (although aside from waxing I haven't worked as one for over 4 years) and Remedial massage therapist and thai yoga massage therapist (Which is my full time job here)

But because I don't speak anything but very basic German I can only get work as au-pair, lol-

Hello all! I am new to this forum and site! Part of my family is American and I lived in America for several years and still get so frustrated by not finding enough beauty salons that offer waxing and mani-pedis I can actually afford. I also came across l'epilatore...has anyone been there?
Anyway, I am also looking for Americans to meet. I miss my american friends and would love to make some new ones here in Hamburg. If you happen to be around my age (30) and like to shop and drink coffee at Starbucks and if you also plan on having a family with your husband/boyfriend or already have children, I would love to hear from you!

I need to think about where I'm going to set up- I wonder if it's possible to rent a beauty room/treatment room for half days (You can easily do that here in AUS and I know you can do that in the UK too)

If anyone knows of any salons that hire out their treatment rooms in Hamburg ??? If so please let me know :-)

Otherwise really any room will do- although needs to have either a tiled or wooden floor though- easy access to a sink- good location, and quiet.

I will keep my eye out for something... There are many Salons around so I don't think you will have too much trouble finding one...

Hey, I get my eyebrows waxed in Sternschanze, it only costs 8 euro and I am very very fussy ( I am Brazilian, we are also OBSSESSED with waxing) so you can trust my judgement.

Payola, PM me if you want the phone number and adress. Or any of you girls!! The Lady is from Turkey, I have only good experience with turkish waxers... Germans are not that familiar with it, and I just cant find a brazilian.

There is a spot up here in Berlin Wax in the City. I like it a lot. Reasonable, very clean, specializes in waxing and cute to boot. I think the website wax-in-the-city.com says they are planning a Hamburg opening in October (I am guessing '07). You might want to keep an eye on it.
