The Germans that all Germans know

According to a recent survey by the Forsa-Institut in Berlin, there are only six (living) Germans that every single one of those 160million Germans out there recognises... and they are:

• Franz Beckenbauer
• Papst Benedikt XVI
• Herbert Grönemeyer
• Guido Westerwelle
• Edmund Stoiber
• Gerhard Schröder

Respondents were presented with a list of 125 personalities from all walks of german life. The list included Angela Merkel, Dieter Bohlen, Helmut Kohl, Horst Köhler and Günther Jauch.

I am surprised to see everyone knows who Herbert is, and that Boris Becker, Steffi Graf or Thomas 'Haribo' Gottschalk didn't feature... maybe they weren't on the list, I dunno.

The same survey also asked who the hermans trust most... and Günther Jauch (76.9%) came top . Least trusted was Jan Ulrich, closely followed by Deutsche Bahn chief Hartmut Mehdorn.

I think they were asked to tick the box(es) against the names of those people they felt they could trust... and 76.9% ticked Günther Jauch. Günther just wasn't recognised by everyone.

Why? Guido is on the list...

I suppose it depends on how you look at it. I don't follow football and I don't listen to shite music.

That being said, I know who they are but I couldn't tell you what they look like.
