Websites for pooling of group rail tickets

Ticket sharing on Deutsche Bahn

Hello,
A few years back I remember reading about a website where travellers could input their day and time of departure for a ride on DB. If there were enough people interested in travelling the same train, the site would somehow group those people together for a group ticket, saving everyone who signed up a whack of cash. Does anyone know if this site still exists? If not, did DB have it shut down?
thanks,

I was just thinking about this yesterday, it was called Fox (?) something?

Bahnsparfuchs (?)

Sucha scheme is a violition of the T&Cs of DB as I understand them so they may have got it shut down.
Their special offers from €29 for InterCity travel, now extended to theend of 2007 might have also made it less viable.

Yeah, thanks anyway. I'm sure if everyone has a mobile phone for last-minute updates, this day and age it's doable. Not sure how they can prove you've not simply formed a last-minute club. tongue.gif

YorkshireLad,
Thanks for that link. It's a great idea that hasn't caught on, I guess. I put in what I thought would be a heavily travelled rout - Hamburg - Berlin - for leaving in a week's time, and the only hit that comes up is someone leaving in a couple of days. I guess not enough people know about it or trust that it will work.

That's how DB have undercut such sites.
By offering discounts of up to 50% if you book in advance and you know you don't have to rely on anyone else or site next to a wierdo for a long journey.

Do you get that 50% discount if you don't have a Bahncard?
MonksTown
You can get up to a 50% discount if you book a return trip over a weekend on fixed trains.
Likewise there are speical deals offering inter city travel from € 29 up to the end of 2007.

Only a small number of people on trains (under 20% I think) are actually paying the standard fare.

An unfortunate spelling error. "h" key faulty?
