Rent is cheap. A lot of West German students come to Leipzig to study because the cost of living is cheaper.

what about the nightlife besides pubs?
Spoilt for choice. Very vibrant nightlife.

is leipzig a good place for uni students?
Yes, you can buy lentils.

Leipzig's a great city, not just for students. The nightlife is excellent-just check out Südvorstadt and Connewitz. I definitely recommend Leipzig.

There is a great annual theatre festival in Leipzig: Euro-scene Leipzig

The euro-scene Leipzig will take place from 03 to 08 November 2009 for the 19th time. It will present about 12 guest plays from 10 countries in 20 performances and about 8 venues as well as an extensive fringe programme. The competition »Das beste deutsche Tanzsolo« (»Best German Dance Solo«) will be held for the 9th time within the festival.

ERASMUS has a number of specific objectives:

1. to improve the quality and to increase the volume of student and teaching staff mobility throughout Europe, so as to achieve at least 3 million student and teacher exchanges by 2012
2. to improve the quality and increase the amount of multilateral cooperation between higher education institutions in Europe
3. to improve and increase cooperation between higher education institutions and enterprises
4. to spread innovation and new pedagogic practice and supports between universities in Europe
5. to encourage young stundents to shag as many other different nationalities as possible

exactly...and the only one of all those numbers that affects me directly is the last one...so if anyone could answer my original question about this topic i would be very grateful!
the vicar
Point 5 wasn't part of ERASMUS. You fell into my evil trap. Consider yourself thrown out of this noble project - ERASMUS.

i've not heard a lot of good things about the universities in leipzig. some programs have great reputations, others will take anyone. if you're there to meet people and party,t hen who cares where you go to uni?

The Vicar is right, but in practice all I have seen from these "Exhchange" programmes have been sex, alcohol and party. Host universities try to show their hostpitality only. You dont really need to study, it seems no one fails in any test unless you dont come to the exam. This means it really doesnt matter where you go, because every where you can find those three student activities!
joao fr
that is very generalized...ive have visited a lot a friends doing erasmus and every country is different. some are better some are worse...thats all i wanted to know

I should hang around those flocks of ERASMUS girls some more.

LOL yeah if you wanna stay young, just go EXCHANGE hehe . But something to you Joao Fr, it is good that you are asking, but to my experience it all depends on your personal experience. I may suggest something and yet that wont be the best for you. I wish you best of luck but remember always theory and practice are different, sometimes far different :-)
