The countdown starts now...
Last night Amanda, Helen and Myself checked out and booked the pitches and facilities for our comp. I say pitches because we need two this year in order to be able to play full games with all teams. How many teams? Well we are a minimum of 6 - those who were in Köln will understand how much time that will mean for full matches, there we only had 4 teams and it was a full day. - we could be up to 10; but that's chicks eggs and hatching. A big thanks to Helen for the contact.
As we're playing at a verein with a gaststätte we have full facilities, changing rooms showers etc and we will be eating and drinking there after the matches, with the presentation and possible mully madness taking place after the food. Then we can come into town and people can party and drink accordingly at their pleasure and leasure.
BIG CHANGE THIS YEAR...
Munich will be fielding two teams... We have the numbers and the talent to do so, and it gives everybody a fair crack at playing.
What does that mean? Nothing more than business as usual. The idea is to have two good teams. Munich vs Munich in the Munich final is the goal. We will still all train up and play as a total squad, final teams will not be organised until the week before. The Twin team is not a loser reject lazy arse old sick and invalid team, lets get that clear.
All Munich players are well capable of playing in in the top 3 teams on that day, and we'll train and play that way.
Obviously though the "Twin" Munich team will have a larger proportion of those who due to life's necessities haven't been able to commit as much as others and train tacticly as a full team. (I include myself in that at the moment, and I refuse to use the words B or 2nd Team) I can guess and hope that we can all understand that, and for organisational reasons I can only applaud the fact that our Colin (Tartan) has offered to step in and organise, and manage the twin team's preparations. Thanks mate!
Would also Munich's willing little helpers - otherwise known as WAGS and HATS (Husbands and toyboys) - get in touch sometime, we're going to need a bit more on the day help this year. And don't forget that as we're at a verein, supporters and spectators can easily have a nice day out, drinking beer and abusing players. (Not refs ;-)) So we should maybe start to think about advertising this a bit more this year as opposed to last year where facilities were excellent for the players but we were not able to provide supporter support.

Bang on and thumbs up to you guys... having two pitches is brilliant...let us know about anything that we can do..advertising wise or whatever needs to be done...During the day, like we had sanwiches and cakes in that little tent in Cologne is this supposed to be the same in munich?

Teams are not picked until later. And yes even constant cripples like yourself have enough talent and ability to play! Wouldn't Team Chunder be more fitting anyway... You'll have to talk to the Manager about that. I'm sure if you contact his PA she'll make an appointment for you.
Tickertyboo.
The verein suggested they do some würstsemmel etc during the day. We will be discussing this, as obviously we have a diplomatic obligation to not piss them all off by turning up with our own food. We may just do bananas and musli bars and water bottles for the teams.
BTW there is an strict alcohol ban until you're showered, changed and no longer playing or reffing.
Then the strict ban on
not drinking alcohol comes into place.
We will be playing Dangerous Maß

Alright, 'ceam thunder' then. Not terms in there that are derogatory to the those within the team / management who can't hold their alcohol.
Bonus points for the Germans who can find the nerdiest meaning to 'ceam'.
Anyway, this is fantastic news, to have 2 teams and 2 pitches. Really looking forward to this and especially Munich v Munich. If there is anything that I can do to help with the organising, please let me know.

Hallo people
just need some info on where to get stuff for this weekend and we need some help aswell on a couple of things.
Hooter. the sort with an aircan. Where the heck can I buy one?
Tents. I may be able to borrow two crap ones from aldi (in which you cant fully stand up in and arnt that water tight, hence crap). Do we though as a "verein" buy two good ones from Obi/Pratika? This
was suggested by Rich. Where are the best ones?
Car shuttle from the S-bahn. On the saturday it would be nice to have a couple of cars ferrying people back and forth. These would be best driven by maniacs to scare the opposition. I've already asked Mrs G as her driving scares me. I might also get Oscar to stand at the train station with a sign for the competition. Oha nd he wants to be water boy for munich.
Food pick up on Friday. Can someone help Amanda do this?

When is the food pickup on friday? I´m free after 11 am but i dont have a car..could just carry things and stuff..would that be a help?
personally I think at least one of those tent things would be good to have for tournaments in general and for the official stuff on saturday...just in case it rains. We coudl also then take it to other tournaments we go to to keep us dry. Will have a wee look online and see what is out there. wont be much help with shopping sorry as I cant carry anything at mo...
also as posted on the other thread, if anyone is driving there any chance of a lift??? gonna be a long day for my poor wee knee as it is so lift rather than u and sbahn would really help if poss.

obi had wall-less ones for €20 a few weeks ago. with walls they were €35 i think. that was a special offer. Bauhaus didn't have any that appealled. Didn't look in Praktika

Yes. I shall pick you up but it will be early. I need to be at the field at 8:15 to 8:30 ish.
Cars! We need cars in the morning for the shuttle if possible and to move stuff. Please though think about leaving them there and picking them up the next day if youre drinking. I'm sure we can organise one car to do the journey on the Sunday taking all the drivers with them, so eliminating any stress. So my suggestion is drive and then drink. Alot.

Were they the white ones? Saw them last night. 29.99 for the roof bit and 11.99 for two walls. They had another more classy one fro 79.99 which folds out as opposed to having to be constructed. But the walls were also more expensive. Both were three metres square.

It's attitudes like that that are bringing our world to the brink of collapse. Think of global warming. Think of the kids. As a responsible father you should be encouraging people to take the s-bahn. Not only is it fast, it's cheap and energy efficient and
will save the world. Yes, Gideon,
you could be a superhero, but with suggestions like that you're not. You're the Joker to Batman, Lex Luther to Superman, Megatron to Optimus Prime or Voldemort to Harry (I haven't read the last book yet so I am guessing on this one). I for one will be getting the s-bahn, and I suggest everyone else does too.

If driving means that we consume less beers, which therefore means that we have to chop down less hops and spend less energy processing those ingredients, doesn't that even itself out?
I plan to drive and then leave my car there - otherwise I'd have to go home to Gilching first before heading downtown. Unless somebody in the city offers me a bed for Saturday night ...

How long are we planning to stay on a Saturday night in Munich? I live outside of Munich (in the same town/village as Lok Man does) with only one possibility to go there by S-bahn when you're drunk (taxi costs tremendous amount of money). If we're gonna stay on Saturday night quite late (definitely there is no S-bahn in the time gap between 2 and 5 o'clock in the morning and knowing my russian nature at the party I'm definitely gonna reach this gap) then whether there is a person who would be able to provide refuge to me on this night?
T-Rex
Aug 15 2007, 1:57 pm
@Randy and Lokers: as the guests that I was expecting have just cancelled I will have a spare bed and a spare sofa (unless you two would like a little cuddle and share the bed...), so you can easily stay at ours. The bed is a bit bigger and more comfortable, and considering the differences in body size I suggest this is where Lokman stays...but these are details and we can discuss them tomorrow at training. I will bring the spare key in case one of us wants to stay longer/go home earlier. Oh and Randy, just in (the very unlikely) case the pirates beat team awesome, you will have to find a different place to rest your Russian head

Regi, this sounds as an ultimatum to me: lose or sleep outside/somewhere else. :-) How about to show some mercy to me? But I like an idea that you admit a possibility to finish a Saturday's comp on the second place. Keep thinking about it more often within the last 2 days 'cause we have nothing to lose on Saturday in contrast to you, guys and we will do our best.

Phoahhh! Fightin' talk that be! Munich Awesum (a mathmatical puzzle that is impressively difficult) is our Super Series team! We will fire them on to win win and win and win and win.
