I just found this on youtube...I can't believe they thought this was ok.

that is like how old? About 30 to 40 years? Different time back then.

Apparently the series was originally aimed at adults and not at children. Winston cigarettes sponsered the series and hence in return the characters were used for their commercials.

According to Wikipedia, they stopped the sponsorship when Wilma became pregnant, after which the sponsor was Welch's Grape Juice... which is why Pebbles drinks so much grape juice as a baby.

Actually smoking may be much better for the youth than being 100 pounds overweight, no activity and pining for that 9mm they want to buy.

Hey now! Those 9mm's are what keep that 100 pounds scared off those kids! Let's not be too hasty...
