You, reasonably educated and somewhat career-minded (or at least in spurts), find yourself spending long days in the home, self-teaching the art of Kuchen construction, cursing the dearth of garbage disposals in Deutschland, wondering how bad it would be, really, if those tightly shut doors lining your entry hall were to find themselves flung open for the afternoon. You browse the supermarket aisles endlessly, pondering the intricacies of "bio" and wondering just how "trocken" a 4-euro Gewürtztraminer can be. You recently ironed a tablecloth. Your German language skills are kindergarten-level at best. The English-speaking cat/dog has grown bored of your debates.
I am a journalist from New York City, married to a Bavarian-born artist, once fairly versed in current events and wine lists, now getting off on the whitening powers of Persil, considering learning how to make Schweinshax'n (I feel this could be perilous), and wondering if my feet are widening in my Hausschuhen. I am in Munich only part-time, but hope to find some semblance of a life here. If you would like to join my LoAHf (Hausmannen, people with jobs, indeed anyone! welcome), post or PM me and I will organize a meetup somewhere lively and central.
I can't seem to stop baking, so alternately, if anyone is anywhere near Grünwald (as if) and would like to come for kaffeeklatsch, that is a possibility as well.
