Hi everyone!!!
I can't believe Autumn is here
Are we meeting up this week? If so what about Treptower Park again or Onkel Alberts?
I hope you are all OK.
For the babies that are George's age (Alice and Alec) are you sleeping well? Or are you crazy like George and waking 6 or 7 times in the night?
Help!!!!!!!!

Hi, I am hoping to join you one of these days, maybe not this week as I might be leaving town.
I heard about the meet ups from Nicky who I met at the hospital.
There were about 2 days between our baby's births.
If that is the Alec you mean.
My baby Caia is 5 months today and has been waking quite a lot during the night since we travelled a bit in July.
Looking fwd to meeting up, Nina

Kristy,
Don't mean to offer advice where it is not wanted, but....our daughter Lilly was an awful sleeper (she's only 2 months tho) for a while. It totally sucked. A friend recommended the book, Jedes Kind kann schlafen lernen and the techniques they mentioned in there really worked great. She sleeps through the night now (she's kind of a demanding baby, so it is a big improvement) The stuff they mentioned was for older babys (like George's age), but it worked for her too.

Hi all,
I really want to make a meeting, but something seems to always come up.. tomorrow is Finn's 2 year check up... so we wont make it again..
I am only putting this out there because of the discussion, but babies weren't really designed to sleep through the night.. and if you think about it, we, as adults don't sleep though the night either.. We all at some point get hungry or thirsty, or have a bad dream... we all do it, so for a baby its normal, but they can't get up themsleves and get a snack or some milk, or I know that sometimes when I have a bad dream I wake up my husband to have him cuddle me..
also babies have growth spurts, and they need more breastmilk so they will nurse more to get your supply up to what they need, this will happen at night too.. there are also developmental milestones that happen, this will keep babies up.. teething too..
I havent read this book, but if it recommends cry it out, I would throw it away.. cry it out is very damaging to a child, and does not work, despite what people tell you.. how does it work? the baby still wakes up, but has learned that you wont come to comfort it, here are some links as to why not to do cry it out,
http://www.nospank.net/fleiss2.htmhttp://askdrsears.com/html/10/handout2.asphttp://drbenkim.com/articles-attachment-parenting.htmlhttp://www.news.harvard.edu/gazette/1998/0...renNeedTou.htmlI would rec. the book, "The no cry sleep solution"
http://www.amazon.com/No-Cry-Sleep-Solutio...h/dp/0071381392it has gentle ways to get baby to sleep..
also here is a really good article about babies and sleeping through the night-
http://www.kathydettwyler.org/detsleepthrough.html I just want to throw that out there, so that people know there are other options than cry it out, and that is is indeed normal for babies not to sleep through the night, I guess after all that I probably wont be invited to M&B's...

I would love to meet up, is there anything more central then
treptow park? If not just let me know exactely where you will meet. By the way to Sorcha, It seems I can't send any private messages! I had the most horrendous week in England packing up with a screaming baby, but i am very pleased in our new flat.

Hello all
Thanks for all the info sweetie in Berlin

... I totally understand that babies wake during the night... but George wakes 5 or 6 times like a new born!!! He sleeps for 1 hour during the day and 10 hours at night!!! 11 hours total seems to be crazy but he still has a big smile on his face so i think he might just be hypo

Went to the doctor today and she told me that this isn't normal and to try a good night bottle!!! Fingers crossed!!!
There doesn't seem to be many takers this week for the mummy meet up so we should probably leave it! Haven't really got the energy anyway!!!
Hope 2 see you all soon xxx

Hi Girls
I have visitors this week and next week Cara starts kita. Its just for 2 hours a day in the beginning so I am hoping that we can make next week. I don't mind going to Treptower Park if the weather is good, but I'll have a look and see if there is somewhere else near to a Ring S-bahn station as a back-up. I will not get a chance to look until Wednesday night though, if someone else has a suggestion feel free to post.
Have a great week all!

Hi Kirsty
I'll bring a nice big bottle of fine Irish whiskey to our next meetup, George will be sleeping in no time

. Every baby is different, at least the sleeping rhythm of my two are completely different. 99% of the time Cara sleeps right through the night for 11-12 hours, the only time she did not sleep through (after 6 weeks) was when she was a feed short during the day. My eldest is the complete opposite, I tried the routines in The New Contented Little Baby Book from 4 weeks and they genuinely worked...until we moved to Berlin when she was 3 months old. I really believe that if we had persevered after the move, she would have adjusted back to sleeping through. I can bring the book along to the next meetup if you want to have a look but I think you took the correct action in taking George to the doctor just to make sure all is ok and the extra feeding will probably do the trick.
All the best!

Hi there,
I'm a new member - and very new to Berlin. Our family (German husband, 12 year old son, 8 month old daughter and lab/collie mix dog) just moved here a month ago. I speak very little German and I would love to meet other moms - especially in the
Kreuzberg area. We know a few folks here but are eager to meet some other families.
hope to meet up soon!

Hi Girls
After a fun evening surfing, I came across the following list of places which are baby friendly in Berlin, unfortunately, none of which are
ideal in terms of proximity to the S bahn.
If the weather on Friday is sunny, lets go to
Treptower park but perhaps have a coffee a little closer to the train station. If cloudy, rainy etc. I thought
Maravilla looked interesting
http://www.maravilla-berlin.de/ as it is not only a cafe ..., I have never been there so can only suggest not recommend. If anyone else would like to recommend another location, you are more than welcome as Maravilla will be a bit of a trek for most of us?
Sorcha
Welcome to Berlin Milan, we usually meet at 13:30. If you are free this week, you may be in luck as the above locations are in your area

Hi everyone,
I've missed you all and the last few meetups. I was down with the flu for a couple weeks and then there was a scare that the baby might be coming early so I was put on bed rest, but all is well. Thank God! I'm fine and the baby's fine. I'd like to come today, but we're having a hole in our ceiling repaired this morning. I don't know how long it's gonna take. If they're done on time, I'll be there. If not, I'll see you all next week.

Hi Girls! I'm just checking the forum so I don't think I will come today. Afraid I'll get lost as I had a hard time figuring out online where the place is once you get off the U-Bahn--not really feeling up to walking very far lost these days! Maybe we'll go there again if everyone agrees and I can get some pointers. It sounds like a great place. Have fun and a great weekend...glad all is well with you and your little one, Darling. Nicole

Hi Girls
Sorry some of you could not make it. The walking distance from the station was my biggest concern also Nicole as I know its not so easy for you Guys at the moment, ashamedly I took the car this time. The cafe was really fantastic, there was a special play area for small babies so we actually had a few minutes peace whilst they played (or I should say pulled each other's hair). Hopefully we can go another time, perhaps someone can provide more detailed directions.
Have a great week!

Hi Ladies, Thomas and I have returned from the UK and are looking forward to catching up with you all on Friday. The only venue that i could think of was Tims Canadian Deli. We met you all there the first time we came to the group. It's pretty central and not too far to walk from the S Bahn for the pregnant ladies. If people think its a good venue can someone post the actual address as i have no idea what it is. Anyway whatever the venue looking forward to catching up on Friday.

Hi,
I am up for meeting anywhere..I don't know this deli but also the place we met last week
was perfect for the babies as it was in a baby shop and
there were blankets for them to roll around on and toys etc.
It was pretty near the U-Bahn.. Sudstern and also the U8 line.
