rolleyes.gif hi...will come along too on friday...unless mother nature decides otherwise !!

Hello! We are going away on Friday, hope I can join you next time. Enjoy!
kirstykookoo
Hello everybody!

Sorry I didn't make it on Friday... I had these strange nesting instincts and couldn't stop cleaning. However, the baby is now late... does anybody have any tips for "speeding" him along rolleyes.gif I know it sounds terrible but I can't wait any longer... its driving me mad! Have you had your baby yet NickyinBerlin?

Thanks
nickyinberlin
hi kirsty - no i havent yet !- two weeks overdue tomorrow so hopefully will happen before friday otherwise they will start things off at the clinic ! have been eating lots of curry and pineapple as its supposed to help !! wink.gif
AndyLou
Apparently Raspberry leaf tea is supposed to hurry things along, but it didn't work for me! I think walking around does help; Another "old wives tale" (that I think was invented by a man) is that scrubbing floors will bring on labour. Curry is more fun.

Good luck everyone!

Fantastic!!! Thanks! i will run to the shop now buy some rasberry tea and a hot curry for dinner tonight ohmy.gif)
Then pineapple for desert washed down with some rasberry tea! As for scrubbing the floors; I have almost scrubbed them away! hee hee!!!

I guess babies come when they are good and ready, but if he grows anymore I am not sure how he might come out ohmy.gif hm???

Thanks again! Good luck Nickyinberlin! xxx

Hi everyone,
I am new to this chat , I am currently in my fifth month and would be keen to meet up with any other to-be mums or even mothers.
Am currently looking out for a mid wife or rather confinement lady (like in Asia, who will be assisting you after birth).
Will be grateful for any recommendation. I wish all of u a nice weekend and I do look forward to some gatherings soon.

ciao,
sander

My first resort, Internet of course and Toytown to check any recent updated posts on/by mums with bumps but only found one thread which started way back in 2006, so I'm assuming by now all the concerned mom-to-be's are already successful moms by now.. hence this thread is being started with the intention to call out to all/any english speaking mom-to be's in Berlin and arrange a meet up/discuss all the new mum issues and concerns etc. in this new city.

Life is strange and funny sometimes. Here i was chuffed at discovering Toytown and amazed by all replying to my posts and trying to help me out with my diverse queries when i was trying to organize a surprise party for my husband's 40th birthday and thought that the delay in my monthly business was just a stress related thingy.. happens to me all the time.. But just to put my mind to rest i took a pregnancy test and Whoala ... 2 blue lines.. Im pregnant!!!

Back home now would be a time for celebration and family get together and just basically people cheering wherever i look but I am new in Berlin and have moved here with my husband, who is German, but not from Berlin; hence our friends are scattered everywhere in Germany but Berlin! I just feel so alone now especially and desperately want a bit more socializing ..and not only via the Internet!! I guess the first trimester does not make it any easier on me either.. I should feel exhilarated, which i do but then the lack of the physical presence of friends and family at the moment is really making me depressed.

So are there any new mom-to-be's out there?
How far along are you?
Have you found a good Doctor yet?
How do you feel?

Looking forward to your replies.

Hi everyone!

I haven't been attending the get-togethers because I haven't had access to the internet since I moved into my new flat! I am FINALLY back online & would love to meet with whoever is available either this week or next. That café you went to in P'Berg sounded great for those of you who are aready mums. Let me know if anyone is available. Nicky & Kirsty...I hope you are doing well & I can't wait to hear if you are mums yet!!!

Hope to hear from you soon,
Chantal xo

Hi all,

I would love to meet you all on Friday with my little angel this Friday. Please post the address and the time. It is a little bit hectic for us at present as we are in between packing and organising to move.

newbieinberlin, congratulations. I am also married to a German who is not from Berlin and our friends are all over the English speaking areas of the world. He will be 50 ;o)) in May and don't know what to do for this special occasion. Any ideas?

Looking forward to meeting you all.
Sander

I am also interested in meeting up on Friday... I am 5 months pregnant and relatively new to Berlin... Doesn't seem like the time and place have been decided yet. I will verify later this week. I am from Prenzlauerberg area, but can meet up almost anywhere as long as the S-Bahn and U-Bhan are not striking!

Look forward to it!

I too am from P'Berg...but I can travel using public transport. I'm not very familiar with the area yet, as we just moved here, so if you have any suggestions, that would be great. Otherwise, maybe we can try the café the others went to in P'Berg last time.

Hi!

I`m now 3 months pregnant and me and my boyfriend moved to Berlin 1 year ago. The thing is im workin´ in Norway and I don`t have a social network here at all so I find it very hard to meet new people and since I´m working in another country my german skills has been making a slow progress.

I read your message newbieinberlin and I understand you. When I stopped working I´m now 100% in Berlin and I dont know anybody here I felt very lonely and it was hard. You kinda have to start all over again and when you´re not 18 years old anymore you find it alot harder to make friends plus beeing pregnant and morning-sick doesn´t make it easier.

I´ve been living abroad before. i lived 1 year in the beautiful city of Chicago but their I didn´t felt that the language was suck an obsticle as here in Berlin so it felt easier in that way but now when im home I´ll start practice some german and hopefully the socail stuff comes too then.

I would really like to meet up with people in my situation:)
So if anyone feels for a joinup just give a shout:)!
NicoleB
Hi! I am 4 months and wouldn't mind meeting other preggies for coffee or tea at some point. Maybe we could revive the weekly meetings??

Nicole
annie81
That sounds great, Nicole B! Next week I can´t Im out of town but after that would be great:)
inberlin
Hi there smile.gif I am 7mths pregnant and have been here in Berlin for 5months. I also am interested in meeting other preggies here. I'll keep an eye on this forum for updates smile.gif
NicoleB
Maybe we should choose a central location to meet next week for coffee/tea? I live in Charlottenburg and could travel if the meeting place is off the U/S-Bahn line. I'm pretty flexible during the week in terms of times as well.
J_inBerlin
Hi,

I have been in Berlin on and off for two years, am a little over 8 months, would love to meet up too. Keep me posted.

j
mistermagoo
why doesn't someone pick a date, time and place? smile.gif There seems to be a lot of interest and if no one takes the initiative...?
inberlin
How about Wednesday at 1pm? I'm in Wilmersdorf but can come over to Charlottenburg. Unfortunatately I don't know the area. Can anyone suggest a nice cafe there?
NicoleB
I can probably meet Wednesday am but not after noon. I can meet in the afternoon on Monday, Tuesday or Friday. I live in Charlottenburg and can suggest Graffiti which is a restaurant near the Adenauer U-Bahn station. For morning coffee or tea, there is also a bakery across the street that I can recommend.

What do you think?
J_inBerlin
I can meet whenever and the cafe you propose is fine with me. Just let me know what you decide.
j
inberlin
Great! Lets make it Friday 1pm at Graffiti then. I look forward to meeting you smile.gif
kirstykookoo

Hi everyone, I've just found out this morning that I'm pregnant, wayhey!!

Unfortunately I can't make it this evening, but I am happy to join you girls next time! I'm Dutch and have been living in Prenzlauer Berg since september 2006.
fraulein grun
OK, so it was this afternoon and not tonite... the hormones are getting to me already... anyway, hope to join you next week.
NicoleB
Fraulein Grun:

Nicole
kirstykookoo
Super... I don't know Berlin that well, but could we meet central Berlin somewhere this week? It took me and George over an hour to get home last week mad.gif I hate Köpenick!!! biggrin.gif I don't have any suggestions though!!! xxx Hope you are all fine
fraulein grun
Thanks Nicole!

Unfortunately I can't make it this friday either, as Iäm driving to Holland that day. So you always meet on friday? Then I'll put it in my agenda for the week after.
NicoleB
The next Mums and Bumps get-together will be this Friday, May 30th at 1:30pm at Onkel Albert Cafe in Prenzlauer Berg. It looks like the M1 Tram Zionskirchplatz and Senerfelder Platz U-bahn are the nearest stops for public transportation. The cafe looks to be between the two stops and is only a couple of minutes walk from both.

Below you will find more info:

Onkel Albert Kupich

Hello everyone !!

Darn looks like i just missed this Friday's meeting!! You all must be at Uncle Albert's already!! Hope you guys are having a wonderful time..

Im 15 weeks along now and so oooooooooo glad that all those first trimester hormones, morning sickness, mood swings blah blah have dissappeared and I am feeling social once again!!

Congratulations to the new moms who have delivered.. how is it going with the baby??

AnnieB, are you guys meeting next Friday again? same time same place??

Hope to see you all soon smile.gif
NicoleB
It was fun seeing everyone last week.

Newbie and anyone else interested in joining us on Friday, we will be meeting again this Friday, June 6th at 1pm at the Treptower Park station. It was a bit hot last week for the babies so we thought we'd head to the park in hopes of shade and breeze. The stop is on the ring so it should be fairly easy for everyone to get there.

Having never been there before, I can't suggest a specific meeting place. April or Kirsty or anyone else familiar, can you suggest a landmark at which we can meet?

I have a doctor's appt so I won't be able to make it but I hope you have a great time. See you next week.

Hello everyone,

I'm in Berlin with my husband and two kids (ages 4 and 4 months) for a month. I'm doing research on a project comparing childbirth and maternal health care policy in the US and Germany. Would anyone be interested in sharing their stories about pregnancy/birth in Germany? If so, would it be all right if I brought my hubby along to watch our kids?

Best, Sarah
kirstykookoo
the more the merrier!!!

Lets meet at the s bahn treptower park exit then. its a really easy meeting point and there is a cool foyer if its too hot! there are plenty opportunities for a stop off coffee, ice cream etc!!! and if its too uncomfortable for those with the bumps to perch on the grass ,there are a few outdoor cafe type places to sit.

looking forward to it.

kirsty and george
kirstykookoo
