That sounds good. I will plan to meet you all at 10:30 Thursday. See you then!
pars
Let's meet at 10:30am instead then, better for me too smile.gif
speedygonzi
and maybe editor bob can change the subtitle to Café Bleibtreu so we do not confuse anyone ;-)
pars
Hello girls,

wanna try this place for this week's meet up? I'm not sure whether they serve breakfast but they open at 9am so I assume they do. If not, we can walk to the cafe we went to last week.

Place: AnnaLee, Bleibtreustraße 17 (intersection of Bleibtreustr. and Mommsenstr.)
To get there: S-Bahn Savignyplatz or busses which go on or to Kudamm (MAP)
Date: 10th October (Wednesday)
Time: 10:00am onwards

p/s: Sorry I pick another cafe in Charlottenburg area but we are open to go to other areas as well so if you have other suggestions, please feel free to post it here.

See you!

pars

this sounds great, I really liked the area last week and why not try out an other coffee. Hope to see you on Wednesday!
cheers
Remke
Hi Guys, here is the new mum talking! Both Mijke and I are doing fine, I'am getting fitter by the day! I must say motherhood is great but I sure need some tme to get used to it. I'd love to catch up with you guys but the next two weeks are packed with family and friends as everbody has their holidays then. I'll see if i can make it but don't count on it. When things are a bit quieter we could maybe meet somewhere around Mexicoplatz? Trish how is your count down going? And don't worry about the tears, they keep coming even after the birth!
speedygonzi
Hello Remke, it is so nice to hear from you! Hope you get some sleep while caring for a newborn and entertaining your family as well :-) Mexicoplatz sounds good, just let us know when you feel ready to meet up. Kisses to Mijke ;-)
TKrueg
Hi everyone and especially Remke! Very good to hear from you and can't wait to meet your little girl. Just let us know, we will be there.

For next week, with Speedy's very kind suggestion to come closer to where I am, maybe we can try Cafe Anna Blume in Prenzlauer Berg. Their addresse is Kollwitzstraße 83 and here is the website: http://www.cafe-anna-blume.de/ We can meet at 10 if that's still okay or later. Hope to see you there!

I will try and drag Daniel to this breakfast but we'll see...if he sees all women there with babies and no men, he might decide to have a cup of coffee and go walking around PLB!

Trish

Hello,
I have to be at home @11 on Wednesday to have our check-in done for the apartement (2nd try), it would take about half an hour.
Let me know if we could meet later on wed (eg 12.00) or you prefer an other morning. For me Thursday or Friday morning is good as well.
Let me know,
speedy
TKrueg
If it's okay, we can meet this week Thursday instead of Wednesday at Anna Blume, the place we talked about. (I walked by it yesterday - it has very nice desserts!) Wednesday, my mother in law is coming again to Berlin and I'm not sure of the time. Will Thursday work for everyone else?
speedygonzi
Thanks for the quick reply! Thursday is perfect for me! I can pick up Rebecca and MeiLi at 9.30 and be in Pberg around 10am
Cheers,
speedy
pars
Ok, thursday works better for me too!

Trish had the baby this morning! Baby Helene was born at 7.00 am and weights a healthy 3520g. We wish the family health and lots of happiness! And some sleep ;-)

It was nice to meet last week in P´Berg and we decided that this Wednesday we meet at my place so the babies can comfortably crawl around. I will PM my address (let me know who is coming).

Remke, Trish - let us know when you are ready to meet (we are very ready to see your little girls), we can visit you or meet nearby, whatever is the most convenient for you
Remke
Hi Guys,

Ready to come out for a coffee and sure I'll bring Mijke along. Let me know where you are meeting tomorrow!
speedygonzi
Hi Remke, this is great, cant wait to meet Mijke! Tomorrow we will be meeting at my place, i will have orange juice, coffee, tea, croissant & lots of toys ready. I will PM you with my address.
See you tomorrow!
newtoberlin
Hi girls! I'm anxious to see you all again :-). Good for you Remke for coming along with Mijke, I'm excited to meet her! :-) Hope things are well with you Trish. I'm happy to hear everything went well :-) Congratulations!
speedygonzi
It was nice to have you at my place and to meet Mijke (she is a little angel).
Next week I cant make it on Wednesday (have a job interview, fingers crossed!), let me know if we could meet Tuesday/Thursday morning instead.
We discussed meeting @Mexikoplatz next week, close to Remke.
pars
Hi girls,

Thanks again Krisztina for the breakfast!

Next week I can only meet on Tuesday. If not possible, then I'll see you girls the week after.

Have a nice weekend!

MeiLi
speedygonzi
Tuesday is good for me too. Shall we say next Tuesday 10.00 @mexikoplatz? (i can pick up and drive the charlottenburg crew)
TKrueg
Thanks everyone for your wishes! "Leni" or "Lenchen" as we've been calling her, is wonderful! She looks like both of us but has a lot of dark hair which was a funny surprise. We couldn't be happier and everything was super with the hospital. Everyone was so nice and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I will keep checking the site and will keep you posted when we go out and about. Trish, Daniel and Leni
Remke
Hi Guys, Tuesday is fine for me too. Since you are driving let's do a meet in Slachtensee (is even closer) on the Breitgaur strasse. There is a Thurman bakery, they do breakfasts too. All okay with that? It is close to the S-bahn (about 50 meters from it). Thanks Kriztina for last week, it was great to catch up again!
speedygonzi
hello! I can be there at 10.00, I know that MeiLi is coming, will check with Rebecca as well.
See you!
pars
Hi girls,
sorry I missed out the meet up yesterday in the last minute.
I wasn't feeling fit, I was very tired from the long weekend in Frankfurt.
This weekend will be away again.
I'll see you girls in two weeks.
Have a nice day.
pars
speedygonzi
Hi pars! No problem, we got your sms and we know how tired you can be in the last months of your pregnancy. Hope the travelling is not too hard for you and you can rest.

The Slachtensee area was very nice, the air is fresh, beautiful surrounding with trees and we thought it would be nice to meet again there and walk a bit around the lake.

Let me know who is in for a healthy walk next Wednesday 10.00 @Slachtensee ( I will drive from charlottenburg and can give a lift)
newtoberlin
Hi everyone,
Just wondering if we're still on for tomorrow?
speedygonzi
Hello! the kids and I are ill (got some cold virus) and Remke sent an sms that they do not feel very well either, we wont be meeting tomorrow...
Hope we can meet again next week, until then lots of rest and hot tea for everyone
newtoberlin

pars
Hello girls, GET WELL SOON! Hope to see you all next week. Take care smile.gif
speedygonzi

TKrueg
I will definitely come this week! Which cafe?
pars

great! cant wait to meet baby Helene ;-)
TKrueg
I am sorry for the late notice but I got sick last night and was seen by doctor this morning. I have the flu and need to stay in for a few days. Thankfully my mother-in-law is here helping me with Helene. Have fun you guys. I am quite bummed that I feel so badly.
Chantal.stemarie
Hello Everyone!

I was so relieved to find this blog & I think it's a wondeful idea! I am currently 15 weeks pregnant & living in Montreal, Canada, but will be moving to Berlin in February. I have read all of the previous postings & I am grateful for the info. Despite the great info., I'm still stressed about finding an English speaking midwife & obgyn, as well as a pediatrician for the baby. Are there English parent courses, prenatal yoga classes or prenatal aquaform classes available? Do any of you have any advice on things I should do and/or buy before I move? Anything that's harder to find in Berlin than at home (I was thinking of getting Englsih baby books & cds with nursery rhyms before leaving...)? I look forward to meeting you all when I arrive in Berlin!

Thanks,
Chantal
sunny
Hi Chantal,

First - don't worry, you have a lot of English speaking options and the health care here is very good!! Seriously, you will be fine.

Here are a few TT replies on the Midwife/Berlin question:

www.toytowngermany.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=57920

Also, your health care provide in Germany can send you a complete list of midwives and there is a special notation for those who speak other languages. Ask for the "Berlin Hebamme List 2007"

I know an excellent English speaking pedi here in Berlin. His name is Dr. MAECHLER located in Charlottenburg...
Bismarckstr. 62
10627 Berlin
030/3415534

The DRK "Westend" Hospital has a lot of English speaking staff and possibly even some prenatal courses in English. Check website here
http://www.drk-kliniken-berlin.de/Westend.108.0.html

Lastly Geburtshau Klausnerplatz has some prenatal courses and yoga and a few instructors speak English
www.geburtshaus-berlin.de

I am hoping TT can start a "Family Life in Berlin" thread and all this info can be together
speedygonzi
Hi Trish! hope you will feel better soon, take it easy and have lots of rest (if that is possible with a few weeks old baby...). My grandma always gave me hot tea with honey and garlic (!) for a cold/flu, it tastes terrible but I got better quickly (maybe because I did not want to drink this disqusting drink anymore)

Hello Chantal, welcome to TT! We have an other Canadian lady from Montreal in our group ;-)
heidihartwig
So sorry i missed the gathering. somehow didn't get your responses in time. please let me know when the next meeting happens. I will check in with this page more often. thanks, heidi
Remke
Hi Guys, back on track after being in the hospital for a week with Mijke. She is doing fine again but we were not allowed to go out yesterday. We should be there next week! Do we want to do Schlachtensee where we can go for a walk (if the weather is fine) or more central?
EdyMay
Hello Ladies. I've been reading this topic for quite a while and finally decided to post something myself. I've already met speedy ( bought some baby clothes from her, thanks again smile.gif ) I'm 32 weeks pregnant and it's my second child. First was a boy, now it's a little girl. It's my second birth in Berlin so you can tell I'm a bit experienced with german healthcare. Though I've been here for a few years now, I don't know many english speaking people and I'd love my son to have some friends that he can talk to in english. If you don't mind I'd love to come to one of your meetings.
Chantal you don't have to worry about finding an english speaking midwife or pediatrician. Most of the doctors here speak english. As for the midwives, mine is Irish so no problem with the language here. I'm sure you'll get more help if you new which area of Berlin you'll be living in. I live in Steglitz and my son's pediatrician speaks perfect english ( my gynecologist also).
Chantal.stemarie
Thank you everyone for your warm welcome & helpful advice! Your words are very encouraging & I'm sure I'll feel less anxious about this whole thing once I know some of the basics like, where I'm going to live, what hospital I will affiliated with, etc. I will keep you posted! Have a great day everyone!
Chantal
speedygonzi
Hello!
Glad to hear that Mijke is better. Hope Trish is recovering soon too. We have not decided about next week meeting place yet, for me any Berlin area is fine. The place we went this week (12 apostol in savignplatz) was very spacious, warm and child friendly, how about meeting there again?
nickyinberlin
hi Everyone, im a mum-to-be (5 months) and would love to meet up with you all. Im working full-time at the moment and wondered if you ever meet up over the weekends ?
speedygonzi
Hi Nicky, we usually meet during the week, but it would be nice to start a weekend meet up too ( I am going back to work in January, so definetely interested) How about Sunday early afternoon?
April
Hi guys!

I am also 5 months pregnant and would really like to meet up on a weekend as well. Not too new to Berlin but new to the mother-to-be thing (and Toytown).
