Using direct debit to book a flight (Lastschrift) - Germany

There is anybody in here who used direct debit to book a flight on the internet?
Any experiences with flug.de?
I want to book a flight on flug.de and I can not pay with a credit card (don't have one).

Yeah - works with Lufthansa & Air Berlin sites...

One sort of feels that if it didn't "work" then they would not offer it as a service for payment

I've asked just because I'm feeling uneasy about giving my bank details on the internet to a company i've just heard about.

I cant speak about flug.de, but i booked a flight recently through opodo.de using the lastschrift option and it worked out fine.
opodo are definitely one of the most reliable operators seeing as they are actually owned by the major airlines.

Anyone who takes money out of your account has to be able to present a written, signed authorization upon request. So if you tell your bank you didn't authorize a payment, they will book it back and whoever took it has to prove that they where allowed to (if they can, you pay an administrative fee to the bank). The the signature is not necessary in an online purchase but they still will have to prove you ordered. It is a risk companies take to get more customers.

For online stores you can always check a site like ciao.de which collects consumer reviews, if you cannot understand the reviews, you can still see the site got 4 out of 5 stars so it does not seem to be a scam: http://www.ciao.de/flug_de__201536

Jein. Banks do NOT check whether you actually agreed to the debit.
You MUST keep an eye on your account satement to make sure no one is helping themselves to your money.

AOL TWICE helped themselves to my money despite me having no business relationship with them though the bank did refund me.

for a recent flight booked with fly.de they wanted a fee for the credit card so I simply did it by Überweisung (bank tsfr) and it worked fine
