Where can I get them in Munich?
I'm looking for a larger qty for a party so please don't direct me to an Irish Pub or Pontefract and Widebottons
to fork out 2 YoYos for a 30g bag innit.
I though I might have seen a German version in one of the larger posher supermarkets a couple of years ago?

Both available as German versions from CHIO for ages... can get them in Tengelmann, REWE,
Hertie,
Karstadt...
You can get 'english style' salt and vinegar and cheese 'n' onion from REWE but they're not quite the same.
Subway stock Walkers crisps but probably too pricey.

Yes, you can get the CHIO chips in all except the discount grocery stores. The salt & vinegar are always the first ones to sell out, you'd think the other chip manufacturers would catch on and add some variety into their paprika, hungarian paprika, spicy paprika or mexican paprika sortiment.

Subway &
The Arc both charge 1€ per 30g bag. The Arc *may* do you a deal, but you'd have to ask directly.
Advertiser Food from Home etc. also stock.
Kettle Chips (
Karstadt et al) make a sea salt & balsamic vinegar and a cheese & onion-alike, possibly too posh for you.
Chio etc. not terribly strong tasting.

Not to forget the thai paprika and indian paprika...
Edit: Forgot the BBQ paprika...

I shall do a taste / price comparison. Thanks for the answers.
I can't have been in a food shop posher than Penny in six months or so!
They are giveaways at a party I'm organising and most of the guests are "Herrmanns" so it "doesn't really matter" if they are the best.

You can buy what tastes remarkably like Bacon fries in Plus (your favourite discounter!)

Get the Chio... some Hermans+Hermines find Walkers and Taytos actually too "tasty" if not used to.

I'm actually addicted to the Chio brand Salt & Vinegar crisps, and I buy them from REWE. Damn tasty, and cheap to boot.
Oh and I know at least one German who likes them too.

I introduced a couple of our American comrades to the joys of Bacon Fries a little while ago. Converted they were. Now I wanna get my hands on some Scampi Fries.
The English Shop Cologne are selling a box of 48 Salt & Vinegar (should keep you going) for only EUR18. The same for a box of Cheese & Onion.
Delivery is EUR5 (if you order less than EUR50 worth of goods) and the shelf life could be just a couple of months. I happened to find this out last year when my English supplies were delivered.
So gave a lot away before I started looking like a bag of crisps.
But I see from this site that Walkers now do 'Lamb and Mint'.

I buy 'em all the time as well, since the other stuff just is too expensive, but compared to the original, the taste is a bit watery. Enough people like em, since otherwise they wouldn't be around still - they got introduced in (if I remember correctly) 2003 as a special flavour edition for a limited time, but people loved 'em, so they made 'em a permanent product. People who like the Chio S&V also always like, or easily get used to, the original.

I used to love the Lay's brand salt & vinegar chips in the US, which are superior to the Chio brand but of course aren't available here.
I also sometimes crave the dill pickle flavoured Lay's chips. I feel like white trash when I eat them, but good God are they delicious.
I like the dill chips from IKEA food store. They stock several different brands of "non-Paprika" chips at IKEA Brunntal and they are quite cheap in comparison- although not British of course...

Lay's = Walker's, so you can get them at the places mentioned above.
I had some really nice crisps in France - spring onion and mustard. Exquisite!

People i can get you all the flavours for a great deal of € 31 per box.= € 0,645 a pack.By my reckoning that makes it 35.5% cheaper than anywhere else in Münich.A box has 48 packs in pub size packets
