Interior designers in Munich

Recommended companies, and general advice

Are there any interior designers in Germany, or is this something the Germans tend to shun? Honestly, I don't know anyone here who has received advice from a designer. We've lived in a funky new apartment for a while now and are looking to get some ideas on how to spice it up a bit using the furniture we already have.

Can anyone recommend someone in Munich who can give us advice on paint, accessories, etc? If such a thing exists here, how does it work- pay by the hour, or what?

No replies? Come on, someone must have some ideas!

The company "Focus" http://www.focus-einrichtungen.de/index.html on Leopoldstr. will do it for you. They are not cheap but are very good...

Look under "Planung"...

Thanks for the info. Do you have any idea what the prices are like? I just want to get some basic ideas, not to buy any new furniture...

@Red, I already sent you a pm, but just to give you (and other TT'rs wink.gif) some more general information...

As an interior design consultant, I will sit down with you and together we will evaluate your current living space situation and what you would like to make out of them. We will have a look at the furniture you already have, what you wish to retain or even part with, any new purchases, colour co-ordination and textures, based on how you want to feel in a particular room as well as uncluttering of spaces which need it. The idea is to achieve comfortable as well as beautiful living quarters within your budget - enabling you to call your house/ apartment, your home smile.gif.

In addition, I have contacts to various tradespeople such as material providers, curtain-makers, painters etc.

red,
this may in no way help you, but have you heard of apartment therapy? www.apartmenttherapy.com. i'm more of a do-it-yourselfer, which you may not be . . . but i think this blog website is great for ideas and inspiration. maxwell, the guy who started it, is really a genius. the one thing that may be annoying is that the blogs are local (there are four: new york, l.a., s.f., chicago) and often drop names of local sources for stuff. but they also often pine for european designs/brands that are hard to source in the states, and just give lots of good ideas in general. for what it's worth.
