Finding work as a hotel front desk supervisor

Advice and leads on going about this

Hello everyone!

I'm currently a Front Desk Supervisor at a new Hilton in Massachusetts, and have worked as such for almost a year. As some of you might know from my previous posts, I'm planning to move to Munich during the summer of 2008. I speak several languages, including German, and am interested in finding a similar position in Munich (by the time I move, I will have acquired 2 years of supervisory experience at the hotel).

I have also researched the net about most of the hotels in Munich, especially the Hilton brand, and would really like to transfer "internationally" through the Hilton network.

Does anyone know the best way to do this? Is it professional to e-mail my CV and cover letter in English? Or rather in German? How about phone calls, and how far in advance should one start contacting potential employers? Also, can my current employer do anything to help me find this similar position in Germany?

Any thoughts, websites, suggestions, etc. will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Hi Miss Lidi,

I guess the first thing I would do is ask Hilton if I can get a transfer via them. I know most big hotels move about their top staff to different hotels for experience, but I'm not sure at what level that happens, nor do I know how far they would be willing to do it. As you've worked at your job for nearly a year, I don't think it would look too bad if you asked.
