German teen Marco, 17, held in Turkish custody

Saw the banner headline on Die Welt this morning is about attempts (failed) to get the Turkish authorities to release a 17 year old German youth
accused of sexually molesting a 13 year old British girl in Anatalya.

The 17 year old German faces 4 years in a Turkish jail if convicted and I'm not so convinced about the joys of Turkish "justice".
But if gets out of Turkey he is never going to have to face a court of law for his alleged crimes I guess.

Mme Sin told me about this last night and I said it hadn't appeared in any of the British press and I hadn't heard about it. She said that the mother of the girl went to the Turkish Police who then arrested the boy. She also said that a doctor had checked the girl and that there was no evidence of actual sex. Apart from that, I'm not really up on the story.

To put this into perspective, my daughter is 12, but could easily pass for 15-16. When she has whispering interludes with Mme Sin I suspect it is about boys.

From the press I have read, the 13 year old claimed she was 15. He also thought that. He says there was just petting, and that he ejaculated early so there was no penetration.

Been watching a few bits on telly about the case - in a nutshell, 17-year-old on holiday with his parents, hangs around with a bunch of teenagers.
Meets this girl from Manchester, they hit it off, some form of sexual relations happen (details haven't been released, although force has been excluded).
She is 13.
She said she was 15.
Her sister, who was on the balcony having fun with another of the Urlaubs-Clique, confirmed to the lad the girl was 15.
But she wasn't.
The main problem is that the case can't be tried in Germany as it would never come to court with those circumstances, it just wouldn't be prosecuted.

The girl reportedly told the boy that she was 15. Her parents somehow found out about the flirt (as both of them call it) and reported the boy to the police for sexual abuse. An examination has since proven that the girl is still a virgin, but abuse can be just about anything. Hysterics reign, common sense flies out the door.
@ Katrina: German authorities are asking for him to be extradited and tried in Germany for abuse of a minor, got that off the Tagesschau yesterday.

ZDF said different yesterday, I personally believe that the German authorities would push for that then drop the case quietly.

Whatever, it don't do Turkey any favours in the eyes of the Germans, and if they want to improve their slim chance of getting into Club Europe, then this puts another nail in that coffin. The whole story brings up bad memories of Midnight Express (still the only film where I puked in a cinema).

So the girl is a manc? Is the boy OK or did she hurt him...?

The German foreign minister spoke to Turkish colleagues at the EU meeting and the Turks said that the government couldn't interfere in judicial matters - which seems reasonable really (and is pretty much the sort of thing the EU has been encouraging)

Did he say if the boy could finally have his medication against neurodermatitis which has been denied up to now?

If the 17 year old gets extradited back to Germany I'd put more money on the chances of Angela Ferkel streaking across

I hope the poor boy doesn’t do time in Turkey as he will get some strange sexual education during a very formative period in a man’s life.

I am certain age of consent is higher than 15 in either Germany or Turkey therefore the lad should have know he was up to no good. Lack of penetration does not exclude a crime of sex. It is like a paedophile claiming, he is only touching little kiddies and not penetrating. What is wrong with you people? One rule for developed countries and another one for underdeveloped ones?

I thought age of consent was 14? It is in Canada anyway.
