Günther Murphy's - The passing of an era
(clearly sung to the tune of "It was a Very Good Year", by Mr Frank Sinatra)
When I was twenty-one
It was a very good year,
It was a very good year, I'd just met my bird
And we were shagging alot,
And very drunk we both got,
At GM's drinking beer,
It was a very good year.
When I was twenty five,
It was a very good year,
It was a very good year for escaping inlaws
At GM's Irish pub,
Loads of beer and fried grub,
(Though the carrot garnish was queer)
It was a very good year.
When I was twenty-nine
It was a very good year,
I met Jimbo, and we made jokes
that would make The Two Ronnies look gay,
Well, actually, they are anyway,
But thats neither there nor here,
It was still a very good year
And now I'm 34,
And I look to the rest of this year,
Ne'er again will I drink beer from the bottle
In GM's, like some uncoothe English yob.
What's worse, now I've got a new job..
I've seen my freetime disappear,
Fuck me, what a shitty old year...
When I look back on life,
And think of the GM years,
My memories will all be good ones,
and now, I just want to state
The beer fairy was great!
But now I'll be very sincere,
And say "GM's, you'll be missed around here.
