Hey folks,
although I do know Dagmar the organiser, so I could be accused of bias, I had the pleasure of checking out the
English Comedy Club gig last night. Comedian Ivor Dembina was genuinely a hoot, many "from-the-hip" laugh lines but a lot of quite intelligent stuff in the mix as well. I also had the distinct pleasure of meeting a lot of excellent people in the process of enjoying myself laughing. This was professional comedy done by a fellow who knew how to work the crowd -- and I understand there's more to come in November.
Anyway, I had such a good time that I felt compelled to drop a line letting anyone who didn't go know that they missed a good one, and I'm also carving a space such that anyone who did go can give their assessment of the show here.
I also wanted to give huge public congratulations to Dagmar on a job very well done. Though she was keen to give everyone but herself credit last night. At some point I had to resort to threats telling her that she either took two seconds to pat herself on the back for good work, or all of us at the table were going to fall to our knees before her and start with the "We are not worthy". That did the trick.
Keep an eye out for it in November... if last night was anything to judge by, it's likely to be a very pleasant night out.

The TT description of the English Comedy Club said that there would be shows on the first Sunday of every month... is there anything going on tomorrow night (October 3rd)? The website still talks about the September 5th show.

Hi, this is my first message here. I'm not new to MUC, but must have been living in the stone ages and only recently found out about this site. Anyway, anybody game for the comedy evening on Nov. 7? And, being that I have never posted before, how do all the TT'ers meet at such events?

Its always a good question how TT'ers meet up at these events. Some say its luck, some swap mobile numbers, and sometimes you can spot TT''ers a mile off!
Not sure if I will be going yet, but I am sure there will be plenty of people there. The last comedy night was a sell out so get a ticket soon!

I'll be there! actually as a performer, but I'll be in the back throwin' down that free beer for comics. I was under strict instructions during the last show to go up there and make announcement. announcements only and introduce Ivor. If he told me once, he told me 10 times and I was a good girl, did exactly as told. This time I get to break out the ha ha.

Probably a long shot but if anyone's got a spare ticket for the Comedy Club on Sunday night then I would be eternally grateful and offer copious amounts of money for the privilege of buying one...well at least 15 euros anyway !!!

Great show last night! Thoroughly enjoyed myself and some great acts! Mike Gunn was excellent!
Looking forward to the next one!!!

Yup, to watch Mike Gunn manhandling the hecklers was indeed a treat--also most excellent to see Texas Tornado work a comedy room, instead of placating the wanna-be culture vultures at a poetry slam. And I got to play DJ/Lights, which was also cool.
Congrats, again, to Dagmar, and to all the performers. Next one, I unnerstand, is December 5th--I'm sure you will all get advance warning. Heh.

I've got a ticket just for me, as well.
I'm sure we can sort out a little meet-up beforehand for a drink or two.
I'll be there too. Any suggestions where we could meet beforehand? Don't know the area too well myself

Meeting up beforehand is a good idea. I'm too shy to go to the comedy club on my own.
Who's up for meeting?
Don't know Poccistr. too well, anybody got any good ideas?
Sorry I can't make a suggestion.
I'm not personally familiar with the area either but according to this website
http://www.munichx.de/trinken/blue.php Cafe Blue doesn't look as if it is too far away. At least it is on the same UBahn line and can only be one stop away I think.
Comedy Club doors open at 20:00, show doesn't start till 21:00 so how about meeting up in Cafe Blue at 19:00?
Topsy
Dec 3 2004, 4:18 pm
Right - Cafe Blue!
I've been there before, it's quite nice.
Good idea. Let's meet there at 7pm.
Gets quite busy so I suppose we should book a table if there are a few of us. Who else is coming?

Dec 3 2004, 4:35 pm
