I considered going once, but then read an article about it where it said that the primary aim of it was to get drunk as fast as possible. I've once seen a crowd of people at Hackescher Markt waiting for the tour to start, and they seemed to be very young; probably backpackers on a trip through Europe.

doesn't sound too good.. I'm all for having a drink or two, but getting drunk and falling over too early in the evening not good when the nightlife in Berlin continues into the early hours of the morning...!!
Anyone else got any suggestions for a Friday or Saturday evening In Berlin, a good place to meet new people? I'm fairly new to Berlin (3 Months).
I keep meaning to meet up with you guys on a Thursday, but I start work early and finish late, so I just havn't managed to do it yet!

I did a pub crawl with insider tours last time I was in Berlin it was cool and the few of us that didn't fall over drunk continued on after. I want to do another maybe next weekend or the weekend after, I can't this weekend.

The first time I went to Berlin I did the one from New Berlin Magazine, it's the same people who do the free tours during the day. You can get drunk as fast as possible sitting at home in front of the TV. It depends on how you drink. The time I went I had a great night, met a lot of people and went home around 7 in the morning. But yes, the crowd is, in general too young and probably not what I would do if I was living there, I've never been to the one in Munich for example. But I was also just traveling around Europe for a few weeks, so it's good way of meeting other people who are doing the same.

Lame. my observation is: a bunch of drunk tourists herded around like schoolkids. They often try to pay for a beer with Zloty small change because they haven't learned the difference between Polish money and Euros, or they're too drunk to care. They slog down some booze and gawk at the surroundings for a few minutes, then the shepherd lets out a holler and they file out to the next destination, pouring tequila down each others throats in the street. some clubs won't let them in, because they're obnoxious, they puke often, and they piss off the neighbors.

Last night, I found myself with the Pub crawl, not for all of it though. It would be great if you like very loud drunk young folk. not that I am particularly old, but if you are going to go on it, have a few warm up drinks, and enjoy!

Not in anyway snubbing other TT drinks get togethers but if anyone else wants to come along Wozza and I are meeting this Friday night at the Silberfisch at 8:30 (Oranienburger Strass S) we were going to have a couple of drinks before the crawl started to decide if we were going to join or take off and do our own thing.

I've done this tour a couple of times because my friend was a tour guide so I got to do it for free... I had fun, the crowd is definitely mostly backpackers and American students, 18 - 25 year olds. So, you're unlikely to meet anyone who's living here, and tbh they don't show you any bars or clubs that you wouldn't find by yourself anyway. Still, if you like drinking and shouting, it's good.
