Neuperlach Süd U5 delays due to construction

U-Bahn disruption through to late 2008

Does anyone have more information on the current delays at Neuperlach Süd on the U5?

From what I've seen they've knocked out one of the platforms so trains going to and from the station need to use the same bit of track (which causes stoppages if there are two trains wanting to move).

There are notices around (and were before the work began) but it'd be useful to know what kind of delays are to be expected and how long this will go on for. From the stuff around it seems the delays should only be minutes if two trains are present though I've got a small connection window so it might be worthwhile switching my travel plans if it's going to continue for a long while.

It's all here, thanks to MVG. Basically, platform 1 will be blocked temporarily. The U5 into town leaves one minute earlier than scheduled, the U5 from Therese-Giehse-Allee leaves two minutes later.
Listen out for announcements. If your German isn't sufficient ask someone to repeat or translate. Don't be shy about this, 9 out of 10 will help you.
The construction itself will last until late 2008.

My German is non existent so it's useful having clear English directions (to be fair the notices had the 1 frürer and 2 spärter bits in bold).

Does the pdf say why they are doing construction work (from what I've seen they seem to be either expanding the platforms or working on the bridge which the tracks run over)?

The whole station is being rebuilt: Girder construction, platforms, roof, escalators. Grooves for white-stick bearers are being added, the signs are being renewed and improved. You name, they are doing it. That station will be the ultimate in handicapped safety and compatability when they finally are done.
