Hi there!

A couple of us like the idea of hiring a ski hut over the New Year.

Has anyone got any tips or places they would recommend?

I know a nice place in Austria...

I've stayed at Trinkeralm before.

Really nice...

Hiya
I hate skiing with a passion but Herr Indoors does not sad.gif

So he and his friends have been using Grether Reisen for years to find chalets and will be using one of their's in January. This site is only useful if there are 8 or more of you though.

It is a *bit* late though but you could get lucky, particularly if you don't mind not having a very luxurious chalet. New Year's Eve is very, very expensive though.
Hope that you get lucky,
Katrina

Try Glutschwanden. It is close to a little Skiing resort (no Apres ski, no bars or anything around, complete wilderness).
We used to go there often but it is very wild. Beds are above the stable and to go to the kitchen and living room you have to go through the stable and the snow.
Great experience and the food is simple but good. Fun guaranteed!

Try http://www.tiscover.at

but I warn you now, booking a friday til wednesday in the 2 busiest weeks on the season, when everyone books saturday-to-saturday, will be fairly hopeless.

I drove down for new year a couple of years ago and got a room in a hotel from the local tourist board, but 6 people will be really tough unless an apartment gets cancelled

Get your hands on a copy of the DAV magazine. There are adverts in the back of it for huts to rent.
